Phils could have swept the Dodger if Lidge wasn't hurt.

Yeah you're right! Which means they'd be on a 10 game winning streak too!

The two out error by Pedro Feliz could've won the game as well.

I knew there were problems with Lidge, he just hasn't looked the same. Something had to be bothering him all season. Madson will do just fine I have ZERO worries.

Lidge has cost the Phillies 8 or 9 games already this year. Maybe he should stay in the DL until next year. He may feel he's ready, and Charlies apparently agrees with him, but the opposing batters are having a field day with him so who's right? Every time he pitches it's a complete guess with him. What kills me is the lesdoff walk, an automatic SB because he can't keep an elephant from stealing and a looping single to score the run!

Closers usually get one big contract too many. Lidge got one for $37.5 million, three years. Closers rarely last. There are exceptions, but Lidge probably will not be one of those.

The problem with Lidge is he was TOO successful last year. He's under some assumption that he can just blow the ball past guys and they're going to stand there watching it. This year they seem to be hitting the ball and he's standing there watching it leave the yard. Most major leaguers can hit his fastball. He has to get back to throwing some off speed stuff to keep the batter on their toes. THEN blow the fastball by them. Anyone that throws three fastballs in a row to a good hitter is going to get hit, and hit hard.

I agree that he was PERFECT last season, all the way to a World Championship. There was no other "perfect" closer that went all the way for a team that became World Champions.
I don't agree with you on his pitches.
He is still throwing great sliders. He has two of them.
His fastball is NOT going where it should be because of his injury. He is NOT hitting the corners with his fastball. That means the hitters are NOT swinging at his sliders and taking them for "balls".
Last year the hitters would swing at his sliders...This year, they don't "bite" because his fastball is so bad.
It's NOT that he should be throwing more sliders...He has to locate his fastball, so, when he throws a slider, they will "bite".
His fastball sets up his great sliders...It's not the other way around.
Without his fastball...his sliders are "easy". Crush it or take it for a ball.
He is not trying to blow a fastball past hitters. He is trying to set them up for his great sliders.
No fastball...no wins.

Yeah but honestly with the runners they stranded in scoring position that game they deserved to lose.

Another good point.

Very rarely does one person cost a team a victory.
