Even if Rollins didn't believe he had a chance to get Freel out at home plate why throw to first base? If the batter is out at first its only the second out and the winning run still scores! The only play to make was to throw home regardless of the chance of getting the runner.

Actually the Phillies should have walked Bako to make a throw home a force play rather than one that required the base runner to be tagged out.

It seems Manuel is going to continue to show his lack of understanding baseball X's and O's. He should not be the only one blamed, however, since I assume one of the reponsibilites of a bench coach is to provide advice. While Manuel makes more than his shares of baseball errors his coaches, particularly the bench coach and the pitching coast, are also at fault but never seem to be held responsible for their inadequacies like Manuel is.

Eaton's outing was encouraging even though the Phils lost. Hopefully he keeps it up.

Why was Durbin brought in as the closer instead of Lidge or even Romero??

Durbin is a middle reliever and should not have been called upon in this situation---I don't get it---this is a game that should have been won. Gordon did his job this time.

yes, Eaton pitched well, but he was out-dualed! Look at the boxscore!

I totally agree that Rollins had a brain fart.
The ONLY play was at home.
But,
If they would have walked the bases loaded, there would be no room for error for the pitcher. That would have to make the pitcher give the next guy a good pitch to hit.
I can't blame Charlie for this one...This was all Rollins.
