Trade Cano. Move Jeter to 2nd base and AROD back to SS. Jeter is below average now especially with alot of teams having good hitting SS. AROD would still be the best SS in the majors. That opens a spot for the Yanks to get another power hitting 3B and power hitting 1B. Jeter hits like a 2B now anyway. This will also improve your defense right away especially if you could get Texeira for 1B and maybe Casey Blake or Blalock for 3B. Cameron in CF for one year is worth a shot. Damon LF Cameron CF and Nady RF. I could live with that, but Manny in pinstripes would be very intriguing. Imagine a lineup: 1) Damon 2) Cameron 3) AROD 4) Manny 5) Texeira 6) Nady 7) Blake 8) Posada 9) Jeter. All OF could take turns at DH. Still would have money for CC plus another good pitcher. 1) CC 2) Wang 3)Pettite 4) Joba 5)?. All those complaining about Yanks spending, you're envious that you don't have ownership who cares and are willing to spend their revenues. Your owners put the $$ in their own pockets!

I was surprised to read about the Yanks' interest in Mike Cameron, who's competent enough, but he's more a platoon player at this point. And the Yanks aren't going to platoon center.
--
Either way, I would expect a massive frenzy of signing FAs and making trades because of the post-season success of Tampa Bay. I'm sure the thinking is to go up payroll 25-33%. At this point, if the Yanks are not content to hang for a year or two and semi-rebuild--and obviously they won't do that--they're going to hard after Sabathia, Texeira, Derek Lowe, maybe Matt Holliday, too. As for Manny, you've got to be nuts to get that guy. Talk about "going rogue".

Cause we need another guy that strikes out in key situations all the time. If a guy is going to strike out 150 times a year, he better hit 35-40 homers and bring in 110-120 rbis.

Why in the world would the Yankees want another over the hill outfielder? Let Gardner and Melky fight it out in spring training. They both play great defense, so if the hitting is not there it will not hurt as much. Plus if the Yanks are in the mix come the trade deadline then make a move. But not for this guy, plus he has already been suspended for drug use. the Yanks need to get away from that culture.

Hopefully the Yankees can't trade for Cameron. He is too old, strikes out too much and would be a step back for the organization. Let Gardner and Cabrera have CF. You will get good defense and Gardner can provide the speed that is sorely lacking from this team. He is a guy who can generate runs. They need someone like that. Get a decent hitting/fielding 1st baseman- Blalock, Teixeira, Blake- and the offense will be fine.

Why sign an aging Cameron when you could go with defense, real speed, and youth? He never was as good as Bernie and he's fading faster. It would be a big mistake. Gardner in center, move Nady to right, put Damon in left, and resign Abreu and move him to first base. Use the money on pitching.

If Cashman pick up this king of swing n miss he should be fired on the spot. Why he has coveted this guy for years is beyond reason. But he is the same guy who stocked our bullpen in the 2001 stretch with Wohlers and Watazik.
