Actually it is a plot by medical specialists to have major league teams pay for experimental shoulder surgery. Once they get it right, they will announce a major medical breakthrough and we will be calling Pryor the $6,000,000 man as he will be pitching with a bionic arm.

Prior was mishandled by the same Cubs regime and mentality that almost finished Kerry Wood's career. Wood (so far anyway) is still paying dividends and he's a more of a "gamer" than Prior was and certainly has been open to things like changing his pitching mechanics which is probably why he's still around. Still, it's kind of sad to see the magazine covers and other photos of Wood and Prior of a few years ago as the linchpins of the rotation.

Get well Mark. People without shoulder problems will never know how absolutely frustrating, maddening, and painful they can truly be. I've had the same problems Prior has (is having). You have no idea how crappy it is unless you actually feel it.

Fergie Jenkins used to pitch complete games like all of his contempories, such as Gibson, Seaver, Koufax, Drysdale and Marichal. How is it that 3 decades later this amounts to abuse? Wood threw the hardest slider ever, and pitched 18 innings in a single day in high school in Texas. He was shoulder surgery waiting to happen. Prior was the towel boy, if you remember how he used to warm up. Every measure possible was taken to make him great, and I dare say that cheating was part of it. His body fell apart right about the same time as a former great Boston shortstop. Steroids! Don't blame Dusty. Big Z can still take it. If Woody makes it through the season healthy, I bet you find him going back to starting and Marmol moving into the closer role. Take the easy way out and blame it on Dusty. Or blame it on a guy who was just doing what any fan wearing a glove would have done. Blame it Barton. Or tell anyone who listens about your 5 cent shoulder as if that has anything to do with Prior. Please. At least they don't wear size 18 pant suits and talk out of both sides of their mouths.

Go Cubs. Go Obama. Yes we will!!

He was paid handsomely by the Cubs for the past few years for very little production. Over $3million/yr since 2005.

It's the other way around. If the Cubs management had not so badly mishandled Prior, then he would be making 10's of millions of dollars a season right now. However, because they destroyed his arm and his livelihood, Prior has made a fraction of that. Even worse for someone like Prior, he has been unable to pursue the vocation that he clearly loves.

Given how badly the fans in Chicago slandered and libeled Prior with all of their idiocy about "pitch through the pain," that community also owes Prior: one big apology. Of course, no real baseball fan thinks this: only those with the "grunt, grunt, football!" mentality: but there certainly are a lot of those!

Again, it is a shame that Baker and Hendry's shortsightedness destroyed such a promising talent: it's the Cubs' loss and baseball's loss.

That is a minor compensation for ruining a career that would have netted Prior 10's of millions of dollars. It was the Cubs choice to let Baker destroy Prior: people told them that this would happen in 2003, but they refused to listen.

Again, folks: THE CUBS CAUSED PRIOR'S INJURIES. Got it?
