Full story: Chicago Tribune

Better warn the Cook County jail that Bradley is on his way to town, probably with an absurd multi-year deal in his pocket. I'm still too embarrased to wear any of my Cubs gear in public. Maybe its time to jump ship, I just can't stand this anymore.

Please leave, you sound like a good candidate for the south side team.

It just gets juicier every day. Not only is Hendry regressing his 2B position all for the sake of a hitter, who can make his outs from the left side over the right side, now he's going after a White Sox reject with an ERA of 5.28 and allows LH hitters a .372 BA. My oh my, that a way to upgrade that relief corp there Jim. And lets not forget Hendry's coup de gras to soon come, bringing in the closest thing i've seen to Jimmy Piersall since the days of well, Jim Piersall. I just can't wait until the 65 yr. old sr. citizen manager has to step in between Carlos Zambrano as he gets ready to take Bradley's head off, all because Milton goes into one of episodes. Yep, Jim you're really on the ball this off season. My question is what next? I'm sure you could drop some more salary, bring in some more head cases, get rid of the few players you might have left willing to give it their all. It's only been 100 years Jim, but what's a century or two among friends, right Jim. We're Cub fans Jim, i'm sure we'll except another season going without. Just keep up the good work, Hendry. What's the difference in going 0-6 in the last two playoffs, or not getting there at all, right Jim?

Looks like the Cubs are cutting payroll to look more attractive to potential buyers.

Glad that you're such a "fan" that's all you have to say.

Doesn't make any difference who they trade. The Cubs are going to choke anyways, so lets do it as cheap as possible.

I hope we dont sign Bradley, Adam Dunn is the left handed power we need in the middle of our order. Trading Dero was a good decision, he's a 34 year old who finally had a career year and it was only 21 HRs and *& rbis while batting .290. Not a big deal to lose him. If we sign Adam Dunn this off season will be a success.

1. Fukudome CF Johnson Pie
2. Theriot SS Cedeno
3. Soriano LF
4. Dunn RF
5. Aram 3B
6. SOTO C
7. DLEE 1B Hoffpauir
8. Fonty 2B Miles

Or we could get real crazy and sign Bonds. let him play 100 games and for all the others let him pinch hit in the late innings when were down.

I agree. As much as I hate Dunn's defense and the fact that he strikes out a ton, he is the bat we need. He is a pure power hitter and the lefty bat we need. Over the past 5 years he has hit 40 hrs and 100 RBIS.

I also hope the DeRosa trade was a set up for a Peavy Deal. This could be a very good off season if we get Dunn, Peavy, and Miles.

The difference is that if you get to the playoffs and if your team is playing well, then there is a shot that your team can win. People keep talking as if playoff outcomes are determined in some way: they are not. They are very probabilistic. The key for teams that have championships is that they get there often.

That being written, this trade is not going to increase the Cubs chances of playing in October. True, DeRosa disappeared in September, but he's a high OBP guy and thus creates a lot of runs.

As for Miles batting leadoff, Soriano is better than Miles. OBP is the only stat of importance for a leadoff guy: Miles might K less than Soriano, but those pop-outs and ground-outs are no different from K's from a leadoff guy: and Miles makes more of them.

Jeter and Manny make the playoffs nearly every year, and they are the two worst fielders at their positions by a long-shot. Why? In big part because those two get on base and (especially for Manny) hit with power.

Dunn is an OBP machine with high slugging. The walks and HR are worth the K's.

By all means get rid of all the players that hit in the playoffs.
Soriano and Aram really did a good job in the playoffs with the bats.
They are chockers, 2 years in a row.
And as for Bradley he's just trouble.

rod from tennessee is really rowdy roddy blago from chicago. he might be in trouble with the feds, but he still bleeds cubby blue. also blago wants to still be able to attend games and stop by the broadcast booth to smooze, and sing take me out to the ballgame. why cub mgmt and the networks have those political weasels,in the broadcast booths during games, is beyond me. bradley always will be an injury prone headcase. letting derosa go, and picking up miles - huge mistake. not to mention derosa and dempster were the only cubs who could actually string more than a sentence, when interviewed.

Of all the players to depart from the CUBS for the past decade, I will miss DeRosa the most. An invaluable asset to the team who more than capably filled many holes in this mediocre team and one of the classiest, smartest and articulate sports figures around. I think it is a big mistake to trade him.

Just like to thank the Cubs and their fans for Wood and now DeRosa. They'll be a fine addition to an Indians team that should be recovered and poised to make a World Series run. We haven't won a World Series in 60 years, now...though I suppose it could be worse, right?

I thought DeRosa was one of the better and most consistent players on the team who played with emotion and turned it up for the playoffs.

He will be missed.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Sagittarius

Once again, the domestic atmosphere isn't exactly peaceful. Someone is still all worked up, and you may have come out in sympathy by now. Try to discuss things with as much objectivity as you can muster, otherwise, with Mars now retro, the conversation will soon disintegrate into a bad-tempered spat or a slanging match in which you try to catch one another out. It's important to clear the air.
