Will Garcia Help Phillies Make Playoffs?

The way Freddy Garcia pitched down the stretch last season, he could have put the Philadelphia Phillies in the playoffs.

Garcia Is a one year rental. No way does he want to watch the post seasn from the stands In '08.

Could it make the team any worse. For the past few years getting so close to the playoffs and finishing up short. It will at least give the management fewer reasons to blame next year if they don't make the playoffs.

Now that we have a rotation a clutch lineup and a team that has the will and want to win this year, it is going to be a fun year to be a Phillies fan.

Garcia won't be the determining factor as to whether the Phillies make the playoffs or not... That distinction will belong to the rest of the Phillies pitching staff, Pat Burrell and the revamped Phillies bullpen.... If the rest of the Phillies starting pitching rotation pitches up to its potential then you have two aces in Brett Myers and Cole Hamels... An above average 3 in Freddie Garcia ( who ideally will be a 3 on this staff) Adam Eaton rebounding from a bad 06 campaign that was plagued by injury and a servicable 5th starter in Jamie Moyer... If Pat Burrell breaks out and has a 290 40 120 year then the Phillies score the most runs in baseball and have the most dangerous lineup seen in several years.... If the bullpen holds down the final 3 innings night in and night out then it will be like last year where the games will only be 6 innings long..... Obviously, all these things probably don't have to happen for the Phils to make the playoffs.... But, a few of them definately do.... Pitching will make or break the Phillies...
