Their calling Dayan Viciedo the Cuban Tank. We now have the Cuban Tank and the Cuban Missile. I hope that there are no scuds on the Sox this year.

Konerko called Dayan Viciedo and Alexi Ramirez mindless when at bat, is that his way of showing jealousy of what the kids can do at the plate? Too bad Konerko could not show some of that trait when he is at the plate. Maybe he should work together with the kids and they could help him out of his slump.

If Linebrink adds a Split-Finger Fast ball to his pitch arsenal, one that he has command of, he could very well be effective in 2009. That is if he does not have a flare up of Tendonitis behind his throwing Shoulder again.

"IF" the Starting pitching and the Bullpen start to jell, it very well could be an interesting year. The operative word is "IF".

Hopefully Cooper can work with and nurture on some of the younger pitchers and get the older ones to pitch like some of them can or have. The Sox could have; not a fantastic Pitching staff but a staff that could win some games with good run support. I know it is a lot of “Ifs” and variables however, stranger things have happened.

That leaves getting the core of the order the 3-4-5 hitters, hitting back up to their potential. Plus finding a leadoff hitter with a better BA and OBP than they have had and one that can steal some bases. Also one that can get on base and execute the front end of the hit and run when needed, to advance or to score runs.

Some speed on the bases would help to distract the opposing pitching and give the hitter a slight advantage, not a huge one, but a slight one. Like Pods did in 2005 when he was healthy.

Going back to Hit and Run “Ozzie Ball” with some “Deep Ball” Threat that the Sox Obviously have in their lineup. Could be the ticket to get the SOX back deep into the playoffs, win the ALCS or the World Series in 2009.

GO SOX!

I'd like to see Paulie become a little more mindless at the plate. If he stopped thinking so much he'd probably hit 40 hr and drive in a 120 this year.

LETS GO WHITE SOX!!

I like the Cuban Tank.It sounds better than the Cuban Pimp.Paulie should watch the Cubans and go in the box with the same mindset.Paulie is always beating himself up.Watch his body language after a bad trip to the dish.

Nice back handed compliment by Konerko. Just another reason to hate his very existence.

I took Konerko's comment as simply wishing he went to the plate and stuck with the old adage, "see the ball, hit the ball". Really, the working on mechanics and thinking about hitting comes in BP. You have to clear your mind when you come to the plate in a game and let it rip. I think he simply meant it as a genuine compliment. Just a thought.

"He has that same Alexei mind-set if it's coming at me, I'm hitting," Konerko said. "But he's good and can hit everything. I'm envious of those guys. They are pretty mindless up there."

Exhibit A as to why the Sox need to get rid of da bum..

Mercy!

Good to see youz guys back..

Hitting is fifty percent above the shoulders. Ted Williams
Pretty much anyone who knows a thing or two about baseball knows when you're at bat you should know pitcher's tendencies(what he throws and when he throws it). Does he come right at you or is he a nibbler ? This comes from working with your batting coach and studying film. You also have to know game situations (who's on base, how many outs) You also have to know yourself as a hitter. You must have confidence even if that particular pitcher has owned you in the past.
Of course PK meant it as a compliment. If you have natural ability you can see the ball, hit the ball. But to become a more complete player, all the things I mentioned have to go through your mind and quickly. That's why you see hitters stepping out of the box. Do you think they're just trying to irritate you by playing with their batting glove?
Of course it doesn't take a rocket scientist to do these things, just hard work and a good approach. " The only thing dumber than a pitcher is two pitchers." Ted Williams

Talking ABOUT IT and DOING it are 2 different things.

Paulie is not through yet, he has to get his head out of his Arse when at the plate. Think like the Paulie of old, not like an "OLD" Paulie.

My thoughts are; he is stuck in some bad mechanics and his mind is not "100% in the Box" when at the plate.

Maybe he should try going up there "mindless" Like the "Cuban Attack Force" not thinking about anything, just the Ball and making contact. Not his swing, mechanics, or any other things he thinks about up there.

Just go up there and "See the Ball and make contact". Once he starts making contact again the rest will take care of itself.

Shades of the Old Paulie we all know will emerge.

What shades are you referring to?

Take two hard pretend swings, spit on his hands, rub them together, ask the ump for time, step into the box one foot at a time and stand there watching the ball go by for a called strike when the ball has no movement? All the while hitting .240 again?

You mean that?

No thanks.

Much like Captain Klank of the Bulls, this so-called captain of the ship needs to ship out.

He gone!!!

^ That would be a terrible, terrible lineup.

Move Getz to leadoff and put Anderson in CF. His bat is no worse than Owens and his glove is 10x better.

Getz has even less major league at-bats than Owens. Owens is 10x's faster than Anderson and is a lefty, which is what the team wants at the top of the order.

No, Hawk is right on the money with that lineup.
