Don't expect injured Mets stars back anytime soon

Once upon a time, in the fantasyland where the Mets ' front office seems to be located, Jose Reyes was supposed to be batting leadoff last night for the start of the second half, with Carlos Beltran expected soon after and John Maine a bit later.

By the time Reyes, Beltran and Delgado are ready, the season will be a total loss, so why not just shut them down now, and come clean with the fans and stop keeping them hanging on.
The Mets have been so dishonest with injuries, someone better have some serious 'splaining to do, like Dr. Vinnie Boomsbots or whoever the team doctor is.
Just like with Fernando Martinez, first they say he is day to day and available to pinch hit, now its surgery and six to eight weeks. But with the Wilpons as owners, this minor league franchise will continue to perpetrate this kind of fraud.

I am truly impressed with all the intelligent conversation you guys are having. This is the way it should be! I am sure this is what Topix has in mind: for intelligent, normal, adult fans of baseball to comment on a topic at hand in a meaningful, NICE way, without insulting people simply because they happen to root for a different team. I work in a school with a diehard Yankee fan. I look forward to our conversation every morning, becuause we have a good natured banter--nothing cruel and insensitive like SOME folks who come here to provoke us Mets fans. Obviously you can not trade players that are on the DL. Every team including the Mets does have a farm system full of players that can be brought up at any time in order to fill a roster spot. You can not say that the Mets can't trade any players for the reason that they will not have enough to field a full roster the rest of the way. Just does not make any sense. Once a team hits sell mode there is no reason not to bring up the kids and let them get their feet wet in the Bigs.

even when they comeback they still have to get back in playing shape and the season is getting shorter everyday son.
