Trading Kershaw even straight up for Halladay would eventually go down in history as the worst Dodger trade ever, even surpassing the legendary dealing of one Mr Pedro Martinez for the immortal Delino Deshields

Ignorance, complete ignorance!! Why fill a hole by creating another?!? Is Halladay a better pitcher than Kershaw? Right now, yes. Will Kershaw ever pan out to be what people think? Who knows. Regardless, this trade makes no sense. The Dodgers shouldn't give up any of the starting pitchers for Halladay, or any of the youth movement players. Stick to your guns Ned

Wow... All it takes is 20 Mil ???
You sound like 20 Mil is just penny ante change to throw around...
I cannot believe, in the dismal economic times we are in, you writers think 20 Mil is like twenty cents in my pocket....
Professional sports suck.... they , at one time, were a casual affordable commodity.... not 'no more'....
It's big business, and a moneymaker for those 'in the game'.....

Who the hell cares what the Dodgers do...

I hope the club deals Kershaw for this Halladay, one year wonder...
And, I hope the trade bites Coletti and McDump right in the rear end, for years to come....
Ah, nothing like instant gratification, right??

Halladay would seal the deal for us, but Im not sure giving Kershaw in any deal is wise ! He reminds me of a lefty from many years ago, slow to develop, but like a house of fire and unstoppable when he did, his name was Koufax! Lets be patient, we have the best team now, chemistry is important, lets let this team win as it is, if we get Halliday or Lee with prospects great, but no Loney, no Kershaw..........GO BIG BLUE~

I really do like Kershaw and I think he is going to be a great pitcher some day...given the alignment of the stars in the heavens, but we REALLT, REALLY need a pitcher that the Dodgers know will WIN for sure that day and the bullpen can rest. We embarrassed ourselves last night with 11 hits and 1 run. The guys are tired of hitting and scoring and it all go for not when the pitcher cannot keep the other team from getting doubles and home runs. I love the team as it is, but it wont go anywhere past the first playoff competition with this pitching staff. WE NEED HALLADAY!!

So according to you all, we just keep who we have...and hope for the best? We have Loney, Russel, Bellingsley, Kemp, Either and Broxton for at least 3 more years before they can go up for free agency (if not longer). We need to do something NOW that we have a great record and a great team. Like people have been saying...one guy doesnt make a team...but NO ACE = NO WORLD SERIRES. Halladay will motivate Billingley for sure...maybe even Wolf and Kuroda. They gambled on others like Jones (he was fat - no wonder he didnt do well); Schmidt (he had a hurt shoulder already) Look at what we got with Pierre. Give it a rest people... we need PITCHING!!!!! and we need to do what we have to to get there.

A little less pretension would be wonderful. You write like you've got a giant chip on your shoulder, and portend to have some sort of knowledge of what's ACTUALLY going on behind the scenes. This is one of the worst sports articles I've read in my life.

If the Dodgers did trade Kershaw, etc. for Halladay and the club did not win the WS, what would happen? Well, I'll tell ya what would happen -- the sports columnists in this town would not face up to their mistake and would be onto the Lakers faster than you can say Odom.

Tom Hoffarth,

This is without a doubt the most mean spirited, rude, and inappropriately written sports column I have ever read about an athlete who broke no rules, and didn't do anything wrong but get a no decision in his last quality start (his 8th in a row). This article is such an unnecessary attack on a kid who is just going out there, every day, trying to improve his game for his team. He has a miniscule era over the past two months, smaller than Halladay in fact, but you act like he is a piece of garbage that should just be thrown away. The fact of the matter is, he DOES have potential to become a GREAT starter. Listen to any actual baseball scout, who, you know...goes to games, has been in the business for yeras, and knows what they are talking about. I don't think you deserve to claim you know more than Joe Torre, whether or not you agree with his managerial style. I am not opposed to trading Kershaw, but use your pen with a little more decency and a little more class, like the game of baseball deserves.

It aint easy. I don't think the dodgers are gonna come up with an ace. They need to go all out for some bullpen pitching. Only if they had last year’s pitching staff.

This is what the Blue Jays want. They are willing to trade Halliday and Vernon Wells for the following. They want Kershaw,Billingsley, Broxton and Martin. The Dodgers will get Halliday,Vernon Wells and Victor Martinez. Pull the trigger on this one right now. The Dodgers have little chance of beating the Cardinals or the Phillies without this trade. Also all you Manny lovers out there, seems like he is not so hot now. Must be the steroids.

I think the Dodgers should keep Kershaw. That way Philly can warm up with a walkover in the NLCS, If they(dodgers) get that FAR!!!!!!!!

If Mr. Colleti trades Kershaw of Halladay he should be fired on the spot. I don't care of all the accolades Halladay has Kershaw is a budding superstar....

All sarcasm aside the Dodgers cannot afford to gut the team like they have done a couple of times sending a fan favorite away to win now-which then didn't happen. The Dodgers have a long history of trading away a pitcher just before his 20 win season while getting a player who is crippled, crazy, or on drugs. It is bad when they trade for damaged goods-they should know better but they tend to send away the best talents-they should at least know their own players.
So hopefully the Dodgers will NOT TRADE ANYONE. Building a team takes time. Destroying one can happen in a phone call. It would be nice if there was a stream of great prospects instead of one group arriving in a 2 year timespan.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Aquarius

Be careful now, because you could easily give someone the wrong impression and not even know that you're doing it. This is most likely to happen if you're trying to pussy-foot around them or avoid offending them, because that's when things could get lost in translation. You also have a tendency to sit on the fence now, which could make you seem slightly untrustworthy or shifty if you aren't careful.
