I thought Aaron Miles was traded to Venezuela. Too bad. Has any of Hendry's acquisitions for this year worked out? There's Aaron Miles=Sucks, Aaron Heilman=Sucks, Kevin Gregg=Sucks, and Milton Bradley=Really Sucks. Hendry's boys have just imploded. That's a lot of salary for garbage.

just face it this cubs team will flop and not make the playoffs.

The simpleton jim hendry overvalued ryan dumpsters worth and overpaid for him, instead of realizing the guy was in a contract year and only playing like that for a contract he is horrible and extremly overrated.Miles, heilman, gregg, bradley all suck.Marmol is erratic and walks or hits more batters than kerry wood did.It hurts to say but this seasons done.Besides Derreck lee no one has been consistent.each year goes by the window is closing and the cubs are really starting to look inept and incapable of ever winning a world series.Pinella is overrated and washed up but because he's white he gets a pass but the truth is he has made horrible decisions in 07 and last year too.Its over this year so maybe 2010.

Once again, Aaron Miles is useless. He can't hit. Blanco may not be a hitter, but he's a far better, quicker defensive player. Does Miles have some pictures of Jim Hendry or what? Please explain this fascination with him! Same with the perpetually injured Chad Fox.

Is there any body else out there exhausted from all of the non-game related babble coming from Pat Hughes? Every game, for example, we are told ad nauseum what each player is wearing. Every success of any sort be it a walk or any other type of help for the Cubs is brought to us by ..... Over and over and over and over again. We are never as fans entreated to the joy of simply listening to THE GAME which, apparently Hughes does not realize or care to acknowledge, includes the comforting sounds of the game in action and progression. I thought frick and frack were bad on television doing the Cubs games with this same problem, but, now I can find no where to go to listen to just the Cubs game. We do get relief every game by a more professional announcer mid game and I can not help wondering how WGN does not one, know any better and two, replace Hughes with this much more aware announcer.

The cubs will flop and not make the playoffs,St. Louis has a real team with a real superstar and A REAL Manager.not this cartoon bs operation they blamed dusty baker for all the mental mistakes and the cubs are doing the exact same things now, just face it its never gonna happen.
I seem to recall Corey Patterson getting 3 or 4 full seasons with the Cubs to prove himself. But why let the facts get in the way of some good old fashioned racism, right?

Anyway, Fox shouldn't be platooning with Bradley, he should outright replace him. In less than half as many at bats as Bradley, Fox has the same amount of HRs and 1 more RBI. Granted it will be tough for the Cubs to live without Bradley drawing all those walks in RBI situations or poking 2 out singles, but I think they'll manage.

In the meantime the Cards have raised the bar, they are now the best in the Central, if not the league. They get the good players when they need them. I believe DeRosa is doing a little better than Bradley, and he is happy to be a Red Bird.

I don't think the Cubs can hold up against St. Louis over the long haul either, Mike M, but to call this season "over" when they're in first place in August is pretty ridiculous, don't you think? Compared to where this team was a few months ago, I'm actually kind of impressed. I think they'll fall short, and I blame Hendry's inaction, as well poorly thought out actions when's he's taken some. But I've been plenty wrong before, and I'd love to wrong about the Cubs' chances this season.

patterson was called up at the end of 2002 played full time in 03 until he tore his acl then 2004 was booed out of town and traded to baltimore in 2005.thats 1.5 seasons not 3 or 4 clown.just admit it cubs fans are racist just ask Latroy hawkins, jacque jones, corey patterson,d.Lee and eventually milton bradley will feel the wrath. But average guys like fuld, fox, hoffpaueir and sean marshall get praised just becuase theyre white.

The cubs are tied for 1st because the central is weak and st louis slumped after the all star break. This cubs team cannot beat the phillies, cards or dodgers in october everyone knows this.they are too inconsistent its august now.

O yea to the other guy dont forget dusty baker either ask him how cubs fans embrace blacks on the north side he was getting hate mail in 2006,that would be expected in 1956 not they new milenium. On this board people call fukudome chinks and japs which are rude racial slurs for asians.

Why would the Cubs have taken a chance on this loser? He, like T.O., Sprewell, Artest, Marbury and many others, has always been a problem and will destroy a team.

Umm PAt Hughes doesn't mention the Ads because its his style, its his job. The marketing department handles this. Get a clue on business before you attack someone personally.

Must be nice to collect such a high salary for sitting on the bench and not being capable of doing anything well except inciting fans to hate you. Keep up the good work, Uncle Miltie

.419 on-base percentage

I know people hate him but that is a fantastic OBP. He has been on base all year long. I think it actually is that bad of a signing for that reason.

I'm not so sure it's what Bradley hasn't done, but more what Jake Fox has done. I'm actually surprized somewhat, but it appears that Pinella is starting to reward Fox with some p.t., for the good play the guy has had this year. And yesterday was just Bradley's turn to sit a game to allow Fox some of that p.t. You'll also see ARam and Soriano get a few more days off than they ordinarily would, so Fox can play, i believe. The thing that's sort of bugged me though, is why Pinella hasn't used Fox some at catcher as well, considering Fox's original position was catcher.

Not surprized at all about Vitters. The Cubs have to have some of the worse scouts in baseball, where position players are concerned. They occasionally do ok at determining a pitcher's future progress, but position players, the scouts don't judge them worth a flip imo.

really Miles is coming back? do the cubs (or any team) really need to carry 3 2nd basemen. apparently the only reason he is up here is b/c our crack gm overpaid for a bad player. same goes for the bonus baby sitting in the bullpen who has no business in the major leagues
