Can't we all just get along???
NO! It's one or the other, Sox, yes.
Cubbies, no flippen way.
It's always been that way in Chicago, and it will never change. Oh, except for some mis-guided tree hugging cubbie fans.

would hardly call that a "stinker" from floyd. If thats as bad as he gets then thats a pretty good 5th starter.

I am all for good old-fashioned hate. I just don't think that all these "Cub-haters" actually hate the Cubs. If they have a good reason for hating 'em then more power to you. I'm skeptical though, and hating the Cubs because that's what your father told you to do is pathetic.

I've lived across the street from both parks. Waveland and Sheffield and 33rd and Princeton. Speaking objectively and living in Bridgeport, I came to hate Sox fans in a very short period of time. But that was 10 years ago. Maybe things have changed.

Things have not changed in the City of Chicago!!!

Cub fans are a bunch of wine sipping Yupies without a clue.

If you hated Sox fans while living on the South Side, you are lucky to be in one piece!

I see, it's OK for you to hate Sox fans. We do not hate Cub fans, we simply loathe them.

1908 to all Cub fans.

Hate was a poorly chosen word. But when some kids beat up Lenard Clark a 1/2 block away from me; that really poisoned my opinion of the immediate area.

So you are validating Lake Bluff's statement that it is more a class warfare situation? You "loathe" what the Cubs represent which is success as indicated by your "wine and yuppie" comment. Do you realize that this only shows a level of insecurity that you have about yourself?

The Sox last showed success in 2005.
The Cubs last glimmer was in 1908.

No, it's not a class warfare issue, an it is not hate as you espoused.

While you sound and write like an educated man, I for one can never understand the liking of both Chicago baseball teams. I was raised on the southside and later lived in Northern IL among 99% Cub die hards. My freinds were all Cub fans (Sadly Misguided), but still freinds to this day. They all understand it's one or the other. You Patrick are the only one to bring up hate.
I can only guess why??

Thanks LaLa for your input.

What's the point? Is having the second worse franchise on the planet something to be proud of?

Thanks LaLa for your input.

I didn't mean to personally insult you, that was not my intention. I'm just wondering how many people really don't hate the Cubs but act like they do. Just a little sociological discussion outside of the normal daily critique of the latest game.

Patrick, your right, I do not now or ever hate the Cubs.
However, I always root for the team they are playing.
While this has been an interesting exchange, sadly I most leave.
maybe again at a later date.

Oh, by the way, please let yae slayer know he was the one who brought up counting.

It's a touchy subject, especially to bring it up on the Sox board. I didn't expect any real feedback. You can only go over the minutia of last nights game so many times before it gets boring. Too bad Seville isn't around or your friend Jim, they would comment honestly. Maybe another day. How did you hit this weekend? Break the course record?? lol

You know it's funny watching the post patterns on this board. Every time the Sox win a game or have a streak going, even if it's only 2 games, you see the board light up with all the "where are the nay-sayers now" stuff. But if you watch, it's really the exact oppisite that is occuring. Just an observation.

I'm noticing a more tempered enthusiasm as of late. The team is better than many people anticipated myself included. However, I think most objective fans see that they do not have the talent level to compete with elite teams. So most are conflicted with the idea of being pleasantly surprised by Quentin, Gavin, Danks and Javy but at the same time recognizing that this is a veteran team that will not appreciably improve. So what is the real future of this team as currently constructed, shouldn't we plan for the future by attempting a rebuilding. It is a confusing time to be a Sox fan.

No More Confusing Than Any Other Team (Will They Mesh, Will They Implode, Usual Stuff) And As For The Enthusiasm, They Won 4 Games In A Row!,The Nay-Sayers Where Havin A Field Day When They Lost 6 In A Row!, So If The Fans Get On Here A Raise A Stink There's Nothing Wrong With That. And As To The Whole Sox Fan Vs Cubs Fan "Hating" Each Other, Try Listening To The Drivel That Has Been Espoused From The Northside About How Their The Better Team & How They "Desearve" To Win It Because "This Is The Year",. Me Personally, No #@$%in Way, I've Lived In Chicago For 34 Yrs Before I Moved, I Watched That Bunch Of Losers Drain My Friends & Family Year In & Year Out Only To Lose, Every Year. You Wonder Where The Passion That I Hate The Cubs Comes From?, It Comes From Meeting People Outside Of Chicago And They Automaticlly Say "Ohh Your A Cubs Fan Then", Not Even Thinking That There Is Another Team In Chicago, Let Alone One Who Won A World Series, This Friggin Century!!!, That's Where The Chip On Our Shoulder Comes From, Not Social Economic Reasons, Not Because The Supposedly Have A Better Stadium (It's Fallin To Pieces And Ask A Woman What She Thinks Of The "Facilities" They Have To Use!!)No Its Not That Bunch Of Bull@#$%...It's Because We've Had The Better Team, We've Had The Better Record For The Last 10 Years, We've Stood Up To Management And Took Our Money And Stayed Away When They Put A Bad Product Before Us, We've Been Honest And Said Things Most People Don't Wanna Hear And In Language That They'd Rather Not Hear!. In Short We've Been Real About Who We Are, Where As Cubs Fans Continue To Exhibit And Expouse This Pollyanna Of Wait Till Next Year!!. Now If You'll Excuse Me, Me & My Soapbox Will Be At Jimbo's Havin A Italian Beef & A PBR Watchin Tonights Angels/Sox Game...That And I Have A Cramp From All This Typin
