Great comeback win! I can see Santana's numbers at the end of the season: 10-5, 15 no decisions and a 3.00 era. I bet I am close. The sad truth is, we got a bonafide Cy Young candidate in what I consider one of the great trades in baseball history (I'll give Minaya credit for this one-pure brilliance how he pulled it off) and he is surrounded by disaster. Wright pulled us out of the bonfire-thanks.

I agree, If you lose games, that will make any team unhappy. If you are unhappy, you are sad and thats not a good thing. To be happy is to smile and laugh...Even when your sad. Teams that win are and must always be happy, even when the sun is not out. Teams play when it rains...but keeping up a happy front is a must if you want to win a championship

Question. We need help in the pen, right? How come guys like Chad Bradford are getting claimed off waivers, and we don't even try to get any help? I know we already have a side arm in Smith, but at least Bradford is a proven vet.

Think you guys are missing the point. A happy team can succeed in any situation. I think they need to smile more and laugh more to win. Thats the key. Happiness = Winning.

Johnson, please stop this nonsense about being happy. As your mother, you know your daddy and I hate that stuff. They way for the mets to win is to be angry. Not Happy. If your angry you dont care as much and then you can win. When you care to much it hurts your feelings when you lose

The unsung hero in this game was Nick Evans on the DP throw. Delgado would never have been able to make that stretch. Keep the rookies playing whenever possible.

I like people who think that they can see the future; now; could you give us the numbers that we should play in the next Loto?

That will be your problem; The Mets are paying enought money to Santana.
if Each time that Santana pich ; He could give the Mets that type of game but he doesn't get the win and the Mets bullpen win the game at the end of the season; Santana will just get less money because he won't get the bonus for number games that he won.
The guy is going to make 137.5 mill dollars and you fell sorry because he is not going to make more money.
In other words; as long as the team win the game ; who cares who got the win?

You guys are using the wrong word. In sports the correct word is "HUNGRY" Players and teams that are "hungry" win!

Realistically, Santana should have 15 wins already.

This is garbage. LET YOUR ACE FINISH IF PITCHING WELL. All managers are guilty of letting relievers and "Closers" blow leads. The Gibsons, Seavers, Fords, etc would always finish games. Don Newcomb once started both games of a doubleheader. Make them earn the huge salaries.

You're the dumbest poster on this site. It's beyond what he gets paid, were all just b-i-tchin' about how this bullpen can't hold a lead. The guy should have several more wins. Go take some english lessons and then come back with something intelligent to say.

Just my two cents, don't disagree at all. I thought some pitchers have a contract where they can exercise an option or paid a bonus if they pitch a certain amount of innings, go into the post season, or make the all star game. That is what I understand to be in these contracts.

It is my understanding that baseball doesn't allow incentive laced contracts. Now, depending on the team or player, they can receive bonuses for making the all-star team, or being named a starter, Gold Gloves, MVPs and things like that. But players can't get $$ for things like IPs, Wins, HRs, etc.

As far as options, that is different for each player and each team. Some go with team options (like the Red Sox and Manny), some have player options, some have player and team options (the Mets and Glavine and a team and player option). Those aren't kicked in based on performance. They are set in the contract, like say you have 4 years and an option year (total contract could be 5 years). Some players have one year, some have more (the Sox had 2 option years on Manny).

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Libra

Someone is shooting from the hip today, making them irascible and all too liable to fly off the handle. Be very wary about provoking them into further outbursts, particularly where the vexed topics of money and sex are concerned. If you're trying to sort out a financial problem you will also be prone to losing your rag and banging your fist on the table. But will that help?
