How long will it take the White Sox to realize that even a completely healthy Jose Contreras is no good? Give Clayton Richard or Aaron Poreda the starts already, Ozzie.

Jose is way past his prime, he is a relief pitcher at best. I am greatfull for his pitching in 2005, but he just hasnt been the same. Its sad to see him keep getting rocked every game.

Is it too much to ask of a starting pitcher making $11M a year to give his team 5 or 6 innings without allowing more than 3 or even 4 runs? Jose has given his team little or no chance to win in 4 of his 5 starts. The Sox are 0-5 in Jose's starts and 12-6 when the other 4 starters pitch. But since the Sox are paying him $11M this year and have no one ready to take his spot in the rotation, I guess we fans will just have to get used to watching our team getting blown out once every 5 games.

It's very hard to pitch in the majors if you are 54 years old! Jose should retire.

If you were Jose, why would you retire and walk away from the balance of the $11M the Sox owe you? If the Sox release him, he still gets the money. Jose is in the cat birds seat as long as he doesn't retire. He can continue to pitch poorly and still earn the full $11M. I am sure he wants to pitch better, but like you said, at age 54, it's very hard to pitch in the Majors.

It's gotta be the $11M that motivates Kenny Williams to keep this guy because the record clearly indicates he's been washed up for the past three years. They keep him because they can't unload his contract. Nobody else has wanted him in all that time and the Sox are too cheap to just give him his unconditional release. His only possible value would be pitching for an inning or two in relief. The first time through the order the batters may or may not hit him out or work him for a walk. The second time through they know he has no control and has to deliver room service fastballs to get strikes. Then they tee off, just like tonight, and so many other times in the past three years.

I know Kenny won't do what needs to be done and cut him loose, so Ozzie had better confine the guy to the bullpen and promote Richards (yes, who also sucked tonight) to the starting rotation. Who else if Kenny won't make a move? Ozzie can't bring Porreda up, only Williams can.

You know its funny, Contreras can be run out there every 5th day, doesnt get enybody out, puts a strain on the bullpen, and not keep the Sox in the game at all yet Cooper and Ozzie stand behind him 100%. If it were Brian Andrson doing these kind of things killing the team, he'd find his rear end glued to the bench so fast it'd make his head spin. Think Kenny and especially Ozzie play favorites much??

Contreras has to find his control in Charlotte not at MLB level. If he can't find it Id put a fork in him. I don't believe Richard or Broadway would be that effective either. Both have been pounded in relief. Poreda is about the only Sox in system Id give a chance at number 5. Contreras has become a sure L & Sox can't afford to keep giving him chances. KW is limited due to Sox cheap owner on doing any major moves.

Ozzie said he had a plan B if Contreras and Colon couldn't go in spring training? Its time to use part of that plan. How many more times do we have to watch him get shelled? A few more outings like that seems they will have to do something I hope?

He also said he was going with his "best option" first. Doesn't say much for what's behind these two, does it?

You are right Chicago Fan. It is just sickening to watch Jose now. I too believe the only reason that he's here is the $11M. I'd much rather see some young guy get a chance than to try and watch Jose pitch. It is just frustrating to watch...can't do it. We have a lot of young kids putting sparks into this team, we need a young pitcher to do that too, not Jose. 12-6 in games Jose is not in, 0-5 with him, over 8 ERA, come on. Let's move on.

Watch Jose before every pitch,he is jamming the ball between his fingers,if I can see it on TV the batters can sure see it from where they are.11 million at AAA will go far.Eat out every night and stay at a 5 star hotel, heck Jose could live like a king.

Clearly, Contreras has seen better days. Thanks for the memories, Jose. Time to implement Plan 'B' whatever that is.

Don't worry, Poreda will be up soon.
If they'd have taken my advice and brought up Beckham for CF, he'd also be up and effective by now.

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Virgo

Luckily, you're less susceptible to people leaning on you today, but there's still a chance that someone might try to take advantage of your good nature. It's so darn difficult to stand up to them, partly because you genuinely want to help if you can, and partly because you don't want to be seen in a bad light. But you don't want to be seen as a doormat either, do you?
