White Sox fall to Rangers 7-1

Full story: Chicago Tribune

Bartolo Colon 's magic against Texas came to an end Sunday, as the White Sox fell 7-1 in another light-hitting performance in front of a Mother's Day crowd of 25,844. Colon had won 12 straight starts against the Rangers, the longest active streak in the majors, but he couldn't make it through the fifth inning Sunday.

The two geniuses Williams and Guillen still don't get it. Contreras and Colon are done as stick a fork in both of them.
The Sox will be out of contention in their division before the all star break if they keep them on the present roster.
Pitching and defense wins not home runs and right now it looks like a long dismal season for Sox fans.
The trend for the Hawks , Bulls and even the Cubs are on the up swing can't say the same for the Sox.

The one obvious strength this team posses is it's residency in the majors weakest division.
Sadly, one of these teams will end up in the playoffs again this year, and at least one deserving team will again stay home.
Kenny, your free ride is ending.

Sox would of been shutout again if it wasn't for a wild pitch. Sox now have been shutout or held to one run 9 or 10 times thus far. How Walker keeps his job is a mystery? Year after year same old problems scoring runs & simple fundamental hitting. Lillibridge has a good glove & speed but he needs seasoning in minors. He is not helping Sox offensively. Contreras & Colon both need to make plans on retirement.Sox trying to get by cheaply & its showing.

Ten games out of thirty (33%) in which the Sox have score only one run or no runs. That's abysmal. Their offense is offensive. Yeah, some guys have respectible stats, but they cannot coordinate their effort as a team. They cannot run the bases, move runners up or get the timely hit to drive in a run when needed. Half the offense is made up of slow-footed DH's who basically swing for the fences. It's starting to look like last year was a fluke, not 2007.

This season looks bleak. I see no enthusiasm with this team. No hop to their step, so they say. Can't blame Kenny. He's only doing what Reinsdorf allows him to do. Put Kenny with a club that is willing to spend and watch out.

The Sox won in 2005 by getting hot at the end of the season. They were choking away a big lead and looked like they were doomed. Hope you all liked it. As long as Reinsdorf owns the team, they won't win a series again.

I can't believe the folks here in Phoenix think Reisndorf is their answer to saving the Coyotes from leaving the city for Canada. You think the Coyotes don't draw now .... just wait.

Oh and Gretzke will be gone. Reinsdorf won't pay him. The new GM would probably be Jerry Krause. Have no idea who the coach would be because LaRussa is busy.

People are going to jump all over Colon, but he has essentially pitched as well as any No. 4 starter this year.

The problem is the offense.

You aren't going to win anything if you continually score one run. The team has already squandered two very good outings from Colon due to its lack of offense.

There is no reason this team shouldn't be able to win games even like this, with the level of power and improved speed on the squad.

It's not Kenny, it's not Ozzie. These players need to start living up to their billing.

This Sox team is punchless. We need a CF and a SS that can hit. Carlos Q. has done nothing in weeks. Does not look good. KC might walk away with it.

You know what that's called, KW.

Baseball.

The central has been one of the strongest divisions over the past four or five years, and often, a "deserving" team didn't make it, including the sox in 06.

If the team manages to bounce back, get on a run, and win the division, it's still an accomplishment, no matter how much you try to diminish anything this team does positively.

And I still fail to see how a GM who has two division and only one losing season over nearly ten years -- not to mention a ring -- is somehow getting a free ride.

Go ask Billy Moneyball Beane why he is still GM, or ask Brian Cashman.

Better yet, ask Hendry.

You may be crying in MAY, but Kenny Williams track record has earned him the respect of ownership.

What's even funnier -- people like you crying about losing when you specifically want the team to rebuild.

I guess Kenny's attempt to restock the minors doesn't fit in with that diatribe.

Last year, Kenny's bad, because of the minors, and Kenny is too dumb to see they need to rebuild, since last year was "a fluke"

This year, Kenny trades players away to find prospects, and doesn't load up on vet contracts, and you complain he isn't winning.

What the hell do you want?

Why is Brent Lillbridge or whatever on this team?

The Sox have way to many automatic outs in there lineup.

Wilson Butcherment! This guy should not be allowed to lay the field ! Makes a nice play and throws it away, which gives the Rangers their big inning. Let him DH, he can't do worse that "Futcher Hall of Famer" Thome who looks competely lost at the plate right now. It's a long season,

After 30 games the White Sox, who play in a fairly good hitter's park, have scored 125 runs (2nd worst in AL) and are 6th of 14 in pitching. Obviously the bad offense is hurting more than the pitching. Getting shutout or scoring one run in a third of their games is a poor omen.

What to do? After a solid nine-year run, it may be time to trade away the elders for talented youngsters.

"Losing is a disease...." (The Natural)

Younger teams who have been building for years are rising up; the Royals, Tigers, and Twins are more solid than the tired, old looking White Sox. This looks like 2006 again.

If this team gets hot at the right time, it could actually lose 100 games, not 90. This team stinks. Period. The Sox can't even make losing exciting. They are just plain boring to watch. The Sox couldn't hit in spring training against weak pitching so why think they will start hitting now. Cleveland might be keeping the cellar warm for now, but the Sox will be there shortly.

Lifeless is the under statement of the Spring. Wlaker has gotta shoulder some of the brunt. But Reinsdork and Williams are loyal to a fault. Memo to Thome: Want to raise avg. to over .300? HIT everything late to left. NO ONE IS PLAYING THERE EINSTEIN!!
