Phil Rogers' MLB whispers

Full story: Chicago Tribune

How committed are the Cubs to Ryan Theriot as their shortstop? There was never even internal discussion about pursuing Michael Young , who the Rangers made available after he balked at moving to third base.

I would sign Jon Garland is I were a GM . I can not believe he is still out there. He is the best pitcher in the MLB . I hope he will soon get on a team . I will be a fan of that team where ever it may be. The White Sox were stupid to trade him I think he will have a good year in 2009 probably with the Yankees or Mets.

It's not like the Sox haven't tried to sign a player for more than $20 mil; those players (Hunter, A-Rod, Colon himself) just haven't wanted to come to the South Side.

I think the Cubs are spending to much money on trading. DeRossa was a really good player and I do not think that the Cubs should of traded him. If the Cubs trade any more good players then they are doing nothing for their next season.

Hey Mike, I think YOU are a Cubs fan! I have no valid reason or evidence to support this, but I have absolutely no doubt about it. Go back to the Cub Convention and whine about the Mark DeRosa trade.
What is wrong with you!

Are you drunk? I'm a Sox fan, you effing idjit. So I assure you I'm not jealous of people who root for my own team. I'm proud of the team's "frugality," I just don't think that it's accurate to call it frugality when we've tried to get players who haven't come.

It's nice to know, however, that people like you embrace the bonehead Sox Fan stereotype so the rest of us can lead rewarding lives.

Why don't we ever get any whispers about the white sox? All we hear is mumbling about operating under the radar, yeah six feet under.

"There was never even internal discussion about pursuing Michael Young..."

Probably because they figured out what everyone else with any sense of baseball knows by now... that Michael Young is not good at baseball. Young and Theriot's numbers are almost identical the last two seasons. Theriot isn't really much better, but for their comparative salaries (Young makes 16 mil./year the next 4-5 seasons, or something along those lines), I'll take Theriot.

Free agent players better take what is out there. Money is getting tight, and when fans start to spend less on season tickets, advertising revenue dropping, the front office will say, "less money" for players.

Can we stop it with the Sam Fuld man crush bit? It's a little old, people. Fuld isn't a major leaguer.

Just a question to sox fans...Do you think you will be able to fill your stadium this year? Not counting when you play the cubs?

The real question should be " When are The sCrUBs going to feckin win a ring FFS. Never, if its up to the owners and sCrUB fans.

Because you like being the lovable losers that you are, you don't play the game to win it all right?

Winning isn't everything right? Sometimes when you lose you really win, right? Being the butt of all jokes means nothing right even when the topic is about world series.

As for filling up the stadium goes...sure we'll fill it several times this year for sure. Do you think the cubs will win it all before you die? 100years of loosing says you will not.

We can go at this all day if you like. I'm going to sit here for a second and look at my replica CHICAGO WHITESOX 2005 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY and try to still let it sit in that we won the world series. You'll never know how that feels.

Here's to Reinsdorf 7 rings and counting.

As for the lovable losers, 100 and counting! HA!

Yes. A guy who once, in his entire career, has had a sub-4 ERA is "the best pitcher in the MLB"

Are you re-tarded, or merely a Sox fan?

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Aquarius

This is a good day for getting on with chores and mundane tasks. You'd much rather get them out of the way than have them hanging over you for any longer than necessary. What's more, you don't want to waste your time by doing things in the wrong order or by being so slapdash that you have to do something a second time. You're setting a terrific example right now!
