I wish Omar would stop looking into players he knew when he was with Montreal or people he considers friends. We need talent on the team. Granted half our team is injured and it's hurting us big time, but the aquisitions Minaya makes seem to be primarily based off people he knows well. That's not the way to build a championship team. If he's going to go that route and go after Carroll who played with Montreal, then let's ask Moises Alou to come out of retirement and play another 100 years. Besides the Wilpons being a joke and never giving Minaya the funds available to completely assemble the team, Minaya in his own right is not what this team needs. We need a complete overhaul and that includes the Wilpons selling the team. We won't win a championship with them and it aggravates me that they never do anything about our past 3 years of misery!

Omar won't squat in any deals because he won't give to get a decent hitter or pitcher ,Jamie Carroll was a back up player at his best, we need solid talent not 2nd rate . Omar should go after Mike Jacobs and Josh Willingham both of these guys can help this team not Carroll. Get a starter from one of the floundering teams for a reliever because we have a bunch ! If not this team might as well lay down till next year !Mark my words the Mets will noda in trades !

Actually, I agree with you about the Mets contrary to what many others are saying.

Let's look at it this way. If Beltran, Delgado, Reyes, Maine and we can even throw in Perez don't come back, they're through anyway. Sometimes a good General knows a battle is lot but still wants to save his troops to win the war. It happens...if these guys don't come back, the season is lost in any event.

If most of them come back, reasonably close to what their bubble gum cards say they are, they still have a chance. At this point, thanks to the incompetence of the Phillies, they're not out of it.

They have to sit by and wait on the injuries and hope the players heal. If so, they can still win it. If not, they're finished in any event.

I for one don't think the Mets should make a big splash at the trading deadline. They have 5 to 6 highly touted prospects that should remain the property of the Mets. I don't want Holiday, Huff, or Johnson if it means giving up any of the above mentioned prospects. The philosophy should be to fill a need at minimal cost. Once they get healthier, they will make a run.

Felipe Lopez, Orlando Cabrera and Jose Guillen, as we all know, are the only players Omar would consider. Year after year after year....... infinity.

expect the mets to sign on a player who is around 32 to 35 years old, a below average hitter, with very little power, slow in the field, and probably has a latino name. one who will also be on the disabled list ten days or so after coming on board...its minayas way folks.....
