Loved today's headline in teh Ny Daily Ners, Aaron Spelling doom for the Mets. How prophetic. Aaron Spelling made a lot more money doing TV shows than Aaron Heilman will ever make on a baseball field. Send him packing with Willie & make sure the door doesn't hit them on the way out! We'll go with Wise, Schoenweis, Feliciano, Smitty, Duaner & Wags. At least they have guts which Aaron lacks. Send him to a team that needs a starter. Omar should have packaged him with Nelson & Jorge.

He (Heilmann) blows one game after another. And this guy is chirping about wanting to be starter??? Enough already!!!

OK, enough has been posted about Heilman. How 'bout the bats? This team can't seem to come back in the late innings. They can't seem to pick up a pitchers bad outing. They scored a lot of runs recently, but they were out in front early.
It's been written enough that as Reyes goes, so go the Mets. How's Reyes been this season? Or since the second half last season?

How about Willie not sticking up for Alou when he got tossed for arguing a strike? Willie - you obviously aren't managing the team, why not get yourself thrown out too! Fire up the team! Do SOMETHING!

This team has no energy. They are going through the motions. I don't even think they are mediocre. They are terrible! Thank God I am getting the baseball package for free, because these guys are painful to watch.

If the team isn't in first by end of May, Willie is gone. Guaranteed.

the article is about heilman...heilman gets out of that inning with 2 outs and an 0-2 count on flores and the mets win 3-1. the mets bats have been heating up as of late...this is on heilman and willie

I read an article in the Atlanta Journal and Constitution about Leo Mazzoni chomping at the bit to get back in baseball as a pitching coach. he took heat in Baltimore, but this guy was the pitching coach in Atlanta for many years with Glavine,Smoltz,Maddox,John Rocker (he had 45 saves before he dissed New Yorkers) and was there on their 14 division run. If Willie goes, Peterson should go and Mazzone should be given consideration as a pitching coach. He is a proven winner!

"In that situation, you have to let him work his way through it," Randolph said. "He's the guy in that spot. He just didn't make his pitches."

Gee Willie that’s brilliant- why pull him at all, leave him in there and let him work through it (the game might still be going - Nats 2,348 Mets 3). As a manager, wins and loses shouldn’t matter, what’s important is allowing the pitcher to figure things out during an actual game.

Lou I totally agree with you and why does Heilman have such a long leash as compared to Feliciano.. That loss was all Willie because he waited way too long to pull him.. let him work it out he says?? He sounds like it's still spring training and this is a rookie pitcher.... not competent. bingo..

<quoted text>It is clear Willie will never be popular as the METS manager, or phrasing it better-he will never be a competent METS manager. He does not have a command of the game. Some great players can parlay that into being a good manager, Willie isn't one of them. Everyone knows that when a pitcher like Heilmann is struggling and you are going to try to let him work it out, you don't bring him in, in a close game (he has no confidence). You bring him in when you have a game 6-0 or 8-3 or you are getting blown out yourself. late in the game in a situation like that, turn him loose with an empty head and tell him to let it loose and think about nothing else. This is how you start to rehabilitate a pitcher.

I'll say it again! This team is going no where until Omar gets rid of Willie. The Mets could be better if Willie wasn't the manager. He is the anchor preventing the ship from sailing.

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Pisces

This is another good day to be tactful, and if anything you'll be even more successful than you were yesterday. This is not to be sneezed at, so seize the opportunity to talk to people who can sometimes be very touchy or who need to be handled with kid gloves. If you meet someone who's older or more influential than you, you'll be a big hit with them.
