Slowey looked great yesterday. He seemed to have his velocity, even a tad more, and his breaking pitches looked good. A guy like Slowey is somewhat reminiscent of Greg Maddux with the pinpoint control and excellent command. Slowey is actually the youngest guy in the rotation. It's good news for the Twins if Slowey can be a little bit better than he was and if he can be consistent.
There was no mention of Perkins, Casilla, or Portes in the article. Perkins looked troubled, to say the least. Casilla threw one away, although he was patient at the plate, and Portes really wacked the ball, though he didn't manage to get a hit. Portes also made a spectacular catch to get one of Perkins' outs. It will be interesting to see what the Twins decide to do with Casilla and Perkins. Portes may have the right-handed power the Twins would like off the bench, but he will probably go back down this season.
