If this story is supposed to be about the game on 8/27, you have the score backward. The account below is directly from the 66ers website.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.– After sweeping Inland Empire in three straight games at High Desert last weekend, the Mavericks picked up where they left off in an 8-1 victory over the 66ers on Thursday.

Mavs starter J.C. Ramirez (8-9, 4.72) overpowered the Sixers for the third straight time, giving up just a single run over 8 innings on 5 hits and 2 walks while fanning 2.

High Desert jumped on Sixers starter Justin Miller in the second on an RBI single from Tyson Gillies, scoring Travis Scott from second.

The Mavericks added two more in the third on a two-run blast to center by Carlos Peguero to make it a 3-0 lead.

The Mavs (78-52) added a single run in the fourth and two more in both the sixth and seventh innings to extend their lead to 8-0.

Alex Liddi and Leury Bonilla were the only High Desert starters not to record a hit. Tyson Gillies finished the night 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and a run batted in.

Inland Empire (55-75) pushed across its lone run of the game in the seventh when Scott Van Slyke doubled to center, moved up to third on a groundout by Andres Perez, and scored on a Steven Caseres grounder to second.

Dodgers infielder Doug Mientkiewicz led off as the designated hitter to start a rehab assignment with the 66ers. Mientkiewicz went 1-for-2 with a walk and a hit by pitch.

Miller (0-5, 7.20) allowed 6 runs on 10 hits and 3 walks while striking out 3 in 6 innings for the loss.
