Things continue to go bad for the Phillies in loss to Padres

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel emphasized during his pre-game chat that baseball is a game in which ''you go good and you go bad.'' Right now, the Phillies, especially the pitching staff, don't have much going good, but they've certainly got the bad taken care of.

Move Victorino up to leadoff and put Ibanez in front of Howard since Ibanez can get on base and drive in runs.

Too many distractions, one good (getting their rings), one bad (Kalas's unexpected death). Hopefully things will get back to normal soon. They have the second worst pitching in all of MLB so far this year. On TV today they announced that so far Phillies pitchers have collectively given up 25 home runs so far. The Cubs pitching is 2nd having given up 18 home runs so far. Hopefully, the pitching will greatly improve as the distractions fade away. Otherwise, it'll be a long, long losing season. It's not too late to turn things around. The Phillies had the same lousy 4-6 record at this time last year, and they turned it around and won it all.
