Cardinals did try to bring back Eckstein

When the St. Louis Cardinals signed free-agent shortstop Cesar Izturis on Nov. 30, it became a forgone conclusion that David Eckstein was gone. After discussing a three-year contract with the Cardinals last spring, Eckstein sought a four-year, $30 million deal from the New York Mets this offseason. But Friday, he signed a one-year, $4.5 million contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. General Manager John Mozeliak said Saturday the Cardinals would have jumped at a chance to sign Eckstein to a similar contract. But Mozeliak said they secured Izturis for one year and $2.85 million after neither Eckstein nor his agent, Ryan Gleichowski, seemed interested in Eckstein returning to St. Louis. Read more

that bs eckstein went on national tv and said he told his agent that he wanted to end his career in st. louis 'get the deal done, whatever it takes' and the cards REFUSED to answer the calls, the cardinals are on the same path as the rams, when you get rid of almost every good player you have, whats gonna happen? loses loses and more loses how did the rams do this year? last year the cards gave up their pitchers this year they give up their defense. maybe next year they'll trade off their power..or whats left of it.
