Back Problems May Stop Bell From Starting Season

CLEARWATER, Fla. David Bell wants to start the season on the Philadelphia Phillies' active roster.

Bell..........He's been a waste from the beginning. We finally got some decent replacements, use them. The Phillies should have traded Bell last year instead of Polonco, who could've played third, but I'm guessing that Ed Wade did not want all of his big time acquisitions (Thome, Bell, Millwood) to look like total failures. Nobody will take Bell now, he's a mess, can't hit, can't field, can't run..........I'd sit him on the bench, but he'll probably hurt his back doing that too.

Bell was hurt last yr. Who wouldve wanted him last yr??? He stinks anyway. They signed him because Bowa liked him and worked with him in the past and Bell was coming off a decent season. He is average with a weak arm and weak bat. Just platoon him this yr and dump him. The Phillies aren't about winning at all. It is just about making money. They haven't been serious about winning for a long time. It is sad.
