"Crede was a star of the Sox's postseason run in 2005 and followed with his best year in 2006, hitting .294 with 30 homers..."
Crede hit .283 in 2006, not .294. He's overrated enough without sloppy journalism. Crede has a .305 on-base percentage for his career, which is terrible for a third baseman. Crede's best years, which weren't that good in the first place, are behind him, and it's time for Fields to play. |

Trade Konerko and put Fields at first. Trade Crede and put Uribe at 3b.

Here we go again,
It apparently wasn’t enough for kenni last year when he threw Dye and Buehrle out as trade bait. Showing very little respect for his players he made sure everyone knew they were out there. These two players were shopped for what seemed like months, unfortunately with all the teams in need of pitching & outfield help, kenni was unable to get a deal done. Afterward, with very few choices left, he overpaid to have these players remain with the sox. Kenni put such an unrealistic value on these commodities that not a single GM in the business would agree to take was desperately needed and publicly available. “When you get right down to it, a GMs only real job is to evaluate the value of baseball players” Theo Epstein. Here we go again; our World Series winning GM is peddling another high profile player, publicly, to the highest bidder. If he hadn’t been so public with his trade decisions, it would be much easier now to pull back and wait until the trade deadline. Perhaps last year’s fiasco caused kenni to fear such an imposition, we’ll never know. What is clear is that kenni has placed a value on another player that is not consistent with what the market is willing to pay. Scott Linebrink is considered one of the 3 worst signings this year by baseball America. 4 years?$20,000,000. Dotel hasn’t pitched a good game in 3.5 years. 50% of your top 6 minor leaguers for a .250 hitter who strikes out 25% of the time. Like him or hate him, how can you not question his judgment when every other GM in the majors is questioning his ability to evaluate baseball players. |

why don't the sox ask for willie mays and juan marichal, in exchange for joe crede.
i hear nbc is bringing back, let's make a deal, maybe kenny william, can audition for the host. |

Let me get this straight. Kenny Williams is putting his foot down on what he wants in return for and aging third baseman coming off of what could be career altering back surgery yet less than a year ago he traded and immensely valuable and popular second baseman, Iguchi, for a no name single A prospect and couldnt get rid of him fast enough. The irony in this is that they have a replacement for Crede but still do not have a replacement at second for Iguchi. I wish he had been this firm last year in the Iguchi trade. Go get em Kenny you da man!

Ok so by the posts i'm reading the Sox make the deal of Crede for Williamson,Messenger and D. Roberts?
Because Crede has a lousy OBP and his best years are behind him? Oh yeah can't forget the back surgery. I say hang on to Crede until July when maybe his value will be higher than it is now. Of course if he gets off to a bad start and is stinkin up the place by then the Sox will be stuck with him...A little Catch22 for KW... |

Trade Williams and Guillen for a good bat boy. Or just fire them if you can't get one.
Crede's numbers are deceptive because he is such a clutch guy. My preference would be keep him, sign him long-term, trade Konerko and move Fields to first.

Are you commentors nuts??? They can't resign Crede, it will NOT happen with Boras as his agent.
He is gone regardless, so he has to be traded. And any GM would want to take the highest offer, whether that's now or later. Sounds like none of you have ever negotiated anything in your life. |
Give Kenny some credit, he is seeing how much he can get for an overrated third baseman. He is not balking on the first offer that is made. It may be beneficial for the soxs to hang on to him until the deadline.
Giants don't have an option, they pretty much need to trade for crede because they have no third baseman. Also, I bet Aaron Rowand is petitioning hard to the front office to bring his buddy to San Francisco. |
If he hit higher than .248 (.288 OBP) in innings 1-6, there would be fewer clutch situations later. |
I'm in the minority here but I like Crede and think the Sox should keep him. Fields needs to learn to play left field.
It's Kenni who will not deal with Boras, another thing he does to hurt his team. Of course he wants a high offer, but you miss the point,he values talent different than all of the other GMs & is thereby worthless. A negotiator needs to understand value first. |
He was not offered value, that is why he declined and why the giants are releasing the players they offered. Read the article. |
Value is determined by what will be returned, not what is asked. |

when jim thome gets injured, josh fields can be the DH.

"Joe Clutch" is now "Pack'em Up Joe".
As Hawk would say "He gone". |

Are you about 15? And that is not the definition of value. Try this new thing called a dictionary. The value hasn't been determined yet, but Crede is more valuable than players that are being released outright. All right boys, I'm out. Have a great day. |
Who will then play third when Credes back gives out? |
Uribe?!?!?!?!?! What are you smoking?????
