I have been a fan of Ryan Church since the first game-the guy is a real "gamer". This 3 game cushion will give us a little breathing rooms against the Phillies. If we can come out of this series 2 for 3 or at worst 1 for 3 we'll still be ok. I don't think a sweep is completely out of the question but probably not likely because Howard has heated up and Werth is playing unbelievably and throw in Rollins and Utley and Victorino, it would really be tough to sweep, but we have the big guns on our side too. sdhould be exciting.(PS: after all the hype of instant replay for home run balls, it to me is in the same league as the DH-stupid and totally ruins the flow of the game. You have four umpires that can observe the flight of the ball-their judgement is part of the game and I don't want them running off the field for a conference-screw this crap!)

We welcome the Phills to Shea this weekend. Time for a litte payback after they killed us last year at this time. Oh how the tides have turned! Time to send them back to Philly with their tails between their legs and a giant zipper on Rollins lips. I hope the mets celebrate extra hard this time around just to turn the knife a little deeper in Rollins side. Party's over Philly- time to watch the Eagles stink up another NFL season.

Food for thought. The Cubs have 22 games remaining, and 19 are against teams over .500.
6 v. Cards
6 v. Brewers
4 v. Mets
3 v. Houston (in Houston)

The only 3 easy games are against Cincinnati, coming up next. Once that series finishes, then there will be 19 games out of 19 are against teams that can play. No wonder the Cubs have such a good record, they have not played anyone good yet. This is a tough, tough schedule. Poor Cub fans

In the post season of 1996; sundenly and in a really fast way they got blind and they never saw a 12 years old kid catching a ball ($$$$$$)
In other words; those 4 umpires couldn't see what over 40,000 people in Yankees stadium and more that 1,000 mill people all over the world were able to see ($$$$)

. Well the reason why baseball has finally gotten instant replay is because of the umpires many many blown calls. Yesterdays Yankkee game on A-Rods home run dispute took all of 2 1/2 minutes

Come on, it's September what do you expect? Cubs fans should be happy this year, usually they start their decline in August.

It looks like saturdays game will rained out, so I wonder if Sunday will be a double header? Anyone heard anyhthing about it, because according to the weather channel and online, Sat will be a definite washout.

I haven't heard. I'm still upset that they moved the time of Sunday's game. I'm coming from Connecticut - so a day game isn't so bad, but a night game - I'm not going to get home probably till closer to 1am if the game ends on time. Stupid ESPN.

Please ponder this for me. Suppose you now have a game with a lot of pitching changes and the pitching coach popping out of the bullpen every 3 hitters or so, and it is getting late in the game, lots of runners stranded, etc. and the game is 3 1/2 hours old, and here comes the replay homerun. The game stops and here comes this groan from the fans. The rythem of the game is disrupted, a game already going over 4 hours will be even longer (now throw in a rain delay too). You tell me this is good for the game? At least with a controversial call, it is fun to see a Lou Pinella come out and kick dirt and raise a ruckus-this is part of the game. Will some balls be called wrong-sure, but it all evens out and you don't see fans demanding this. I heard a sportscaster on ESPN nail this. This is for commercial time. Soon you will now have the stadium scoreboard and the announcers declare "Folks, this instant replay is brought to you by "Puttmobile auto parts-keep you car putting along with putt putt parts." This guy nailed it and once they find out how much money that can make with this sponsorship, it will expand to foul balls down the line, and close calls on a double play, and close plays at the plate. We have now opened the door to the first 6 hour game. call me cynical or what! One final point, this will umpires lazy knowing they can call for the instant replay.

Of course not. The Marlins and Phillies will hang around until the end. the "unbeatable" cubs just dropped 5 straight. It could go as fast as it came. Has anything changed with the bullpen?

. Yes I would say things have changed with the bullpen, Milwaukee series no runs allowed, Stokes, Ayala have pitched fine, as long as Heilman isn't in a close game Mets will be fine

Are you telling me the Marlins can't get hot and make a run with 4 1/2 out. Have you heard of Dan Uggla? They have a good team!
