More with less?? says who you who have forgot those teams until Philips screwed them up?? They had some very good players surrounding one of the best sluggers in the game, Piazza.. the pitching of the 2000 team was much better than the 06 team with Leiter and Hampton and Franco out of the bullpen.. The infield defense of those teams was much better with Ventura, Ordonez, Alfonso and Olerud or Zeile at first.. After that Philips made one horrible move after another until he got fired.... <quoted text>
You really do not get it......those infielders were ot 5 tool players. Ventura was not the next mike schmidt. Valentine had those guys playing ball, unlike minaya and manuel. So many errors, dumb running plays.....these guys are doing less with more. 2000 World series appaearance. Omar is screwing up the team after 2006, but he did not have a worls series APPEARANCE.

Five tool, what the hell does that mean? because David Wright is a better hitter than Ventura has NOTHING to do with the fact the pitching staff of 2000 was better. Like those teams didn't make baserunning mistakes, how about Timo perez game 1 of WS watches the ball thinking its out and gets nailed at the plate. If Mets win game 1 the whole series might have went differently. Was that your idea of playing winning ball? You have revisionist history, teams were always better way back when.... so many blunders under valentine and horrible, horrible moves by Philips..

It is not revisionist if they made the World Sereies, is it?

What has Omar's Met's done? Game 7 of the LCS

I was at that game, I wish Timo Perez did not Cadillac around the bases.

I was also at all home playoff games in 2006.

I have been to 5 home games this year.

I do not ever remember a stretch of such bad baseball basics as were displayed the last three weeks.

AS long as Omar and Manuel let Delgado run the clubhouse, expect more of the same.

This team is not as good as 2006. They have better talent now, Santana and Krod, do not forget Castillo.

How soon you forget, Yes Santana and K-Rod are better than Pedro and Wagner but both were having good years until Pedro got hurt and Wagner choked in the playoffs. The cast is basically the same only difference is they are not sneaking up on people like they did in 06 and with the exception of K-Rod the BP was better in 06 before Sanchez got hurt which was the beginning of the end for that team. A GM can't predict such catastrophic injuries. So you want to fire both Omar and Manuel and get rid of Delgado.. Thats fine Delagdo is done after this year anyway. Who should they replace them with?

Does anyone remember the days when teams called players up from Triple A, when a major leaguer was injured ? Why is their a player draft every year ? What happened to developing players in the minors ? The Mets have nothing in their system. Omar must go.
Becasue the Met's system is not our colleges anymore. The system is out of the country.

One more thought. the over all problem with the Mets is simple. Players like Olive Perez make more money than say David Wright. Therefore no team chemistry. which has not been seen since Omar and Tony took over. Because they favor their friends and the team suffers. Newsday has printed this fact for years now.

Archie you're starting to sound like meathead.. David Wright signed his contract about the same time as Reyes did and got a better contract, so much for your hispanic conspiracy theory. BTW.. Perez got his contract because he is a lefty pitcher, his age and his numbers that were pretty good in 2007 and against good teams in 2008 and he has the shrewdest agent on the planet (see A-Roid and Manny). If Lowe only asked for three years and not 4 Perez wouldn't be a Met now.. Like to see where Newsday said the Mets have no chemistry based on hispanic players being favored.. I think you should ask Edith to fetch you another beer.
