That is why MLB now has replay. It is still early, it should get better.

On the other hand, I do not think your perspevtive will.

Umm...Wallace, you do realize it's 374ft to the Modell's sign in RF? And the ball would have to travel higher to hit the overhang right? So how in god's name would that be a cheap HR by any means? Do mean by a normal park as in Petco Field? Nice piece of writing there.

You are a clown Wally. Any of the HR you described would be 5 rows back in any other stadium. You are irrelevant and a joke

I have a much more interesting topic Newsday should print.

With a corporation worth $650 million, and almost 400,000 papers circulated in the New York area everyday, couldn't Newsday simply hired a writer worth reading?

It's bizarre and laughable that your checks are still signed by whoever it is down there at payroll. I've seen college students write better pieces for campus newspapers. Your topics aren't interesting, your attitude is obtuse, and your readers have grown tired of opening their papers and seeing your name next to a so called "column". Do the right thing, step down as a sports writer, find something you're good at, and let someone worth reading take over.

Excellent points.

The quirks as you point out are forced and gimmicky. Like you said there was a reason "Ebbets Field" had all of those odd quirks, it was out of necessity.

And seriously it there any square inch of that ballpark that wasn't sold to some corporation? And naming something like "The Pepsi Porch" or the "Mo Zone" is crassness at the highest level. These were things thought to be so "Bush League" only twenty years ago. Things like the "Pesky Pole" in Fenway Park have an organic nature to them and come about naturally. Not items to be sold to the highest bidder.

Are you really this stupid? That ball is gone in every ballpark, it was smoked. Wake up, or do us all a favor and off yourself.

I guess the Q in your name isn't short for QUIRK! You want to describe the quirks in this new ballpark forced and gimmickry? Fine!! I describe them as creativity, originality and personality! Wallace never makes excellent points! He always has a hidden agenda! It is called ANGER and MEANSPIRITEDNESS!! I didn't take a genius to figure that a change in trajectory occurs when contact is made. Matthews displays his stupidity saying that Murphy's hit would have been a warning track out in a ballpark lacking an overhang. The fact of the matter is at the point of contact the ball traveled 374 ft and would have gone further if not hitting that sign. That would have been a HR in most if not all major league ballparks. Where do you think it would have landed in the new bandbox in the Bronx? Please! Do yourself and everyone else a favor. Never get as far as the Jackie Robinson Rotunda!

"What happens on the nights it works the other way around?"

Geez Wally... if the Mets win one because of this, I imagine that you'd have a lot more to complain about when it works the other way around. Seems like there is no making you happy... Guess the Wilpons should have consulted with you first!

Could be worse. The park could be filled with annoying ticks. That would really suck.

I never really have a lot of respect for Wally's writing, but this sentence really stupifies me: "Murphy's shot, which in a normal ballpark might well have been caught on the warning track ...."

If www.firejoemorgan.com was still around, they would have had a field day with this article.

Where other folks see confusion, perhaps joy, Wally sees annoyance.

So what's new?

There is nothing wrong with Citifield. I love the park. If you don't, please don't go and please stop covering the Mets. You are horrible at your job.

The only annoying tic to me is anything written by Wally the hack.
