Mets bullpen does the job in opening win

One game in, that new Mets bullpen sure looks good. Daniel Murphy drove in both New York runs with a homer and a groundout Monday, a memorable showing in his first big league opener, and the Mets' rebuilt bullpen made it hold up for a 2-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on a raw, cold afternoon.

I had posted early on that I thought the Mets priorities were to get the bullpen upgraded in a big way then the rotation settled and not be distracted by chasing after Manny (as many fans wanted them to do).
One of my main arguments was the priority of pitching over hitting when you already have a good lineup. I also thought Murphy could be a good enough hitter.

So right now - it's looking good for my priorities and wish list for the team.

I know it's one game but let me have this moment.
Don't think that I am unaware that the Dodgers might come into town and Murphy will make an error that brings Manny to the plate against K-Rod and Manny hits a 2 run blast. It's a long season but I am very content the Mets took the approach they did. This will be a great season.

C.C. Sabathia had a rough outing in Baltimore today, lasting only four innings and the Yankees lost 10-5.

What happened to my Stankees? A salary of over $200M, and they lose to a $64M team, what's up with that?

Spend more, we can buy the championship, I know it!

Why can't we comment on the Stankees loss?

I have to go, my monument calls.

True to form. The Jealous, losing, choking NY MESS fans are so paranoid about the Yankees!!!
It must be h e l l to be so concerned with another team.
The NY MESS had a half billion dollar pitcher close for a billion dollar starter.
The NY MELTS fans would be crying about that.
I'm glad that the NY MELTS fans watched the entire game today. MESS fans usually don't. The MESS fans didn't show up for the pre season games and they left early in the last game of last season.
I guess when you win only one World Series in 40 seasons, people don't expect much. Even if they are the highest paid team in the NL!!!
Well well look who's back again for another season of worrying about how the Mets do? It's the Yankee fan with the 3rd grade education. Tell me something? How did you superstar pitcher do today? Ours won, yours needs a diet. Oh and that big name first baseman had a steallar debut as well. Why don't you go spend 2,000 on a ticket to sit in that new taxpayer funded Stadium of yours and watch your overrated team lose nightly.

He can't throw.
He can't catch.
He can't hit.

He's also an economics failure. Even the Yankees only spent a little over $200M a year in salary, to lose to a $60M team.

The Yankees will be lucky to finish in third place.

$1000 says Ken can't throw a ball from home plate to second, on the fly!

he is not worrying,he is hammering your sad melts so learn the difference, melt fans like to cry and make excuses all these years about all the Yankee success and have big jealous mouths so you deserve to get abused by Yankee fans and it will never stop until the not-amazins win a ring,if they played the AAA reds every night they might be ok,looks like fourth place for the no heart melts!

money not an issue sissy as you saw with the rays in the world series and tigers in last,so the money cry is old and makes no sense, the Yankees have made the playoffs every year for the last fourteen years and only missed in 2008 because of key injuries but still won 89 games, the only luck would be if the melts made the playoffs,a rare occurence!
