One game in, that new Mets bullpen sure looks good. Daniel Murphy drove in both New York runs with a homer and a groundout Monday, a memorable showing in his first big league opener, and the Mets' rebuilt bullpen made it hold up for a 2-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on a raw, cold afternoon.

With all the starters except Schneider getting at least one hit and the NEW and IMPROVED bullpen doing it's job, way to start a season!!
How about that relief corps, NO runs, NO hits, 2 strikeouts.

Green was the key of the bullpen today
if Green can keep doing his job the way he did today., is going to be a nice season for this bullpen

Where are you "nostephanfan" you loser!!!!!!!!!! Nothing to say about Santana? That was a good call that Sanatan will miss the whole year after his elbow strain you putz. Speaking of Putz, this bullpen will not allow a Mets collapse.

When Jerry started to use the pen I got last year war time flashback. Then I realized it was not Showeinwies or Homerun Heilman.

KRod is known for his dramatic ninth inning doings. So don't expect an easy inning all the time. It can be a 5 inning game with Parnell, Green, Putz and KRod.

Mets looked good today, only thing was all those men left on base, but pitching and defense was solid. Can't say the same for fat ass CC and the overrated Yankees!

He's not informing God knucklehead, he's thanking him for his god given ability. Get a clue he's not the first athlete to do that, nor will he be the last.

True to form. The Jealous, losing, choking NY MESS fans are so paranoid about the Yankees!!!
It must be h e l l to be so concerned with another team.
The NY MESS had a half billion dollar pitcher close for a billion dollar starter.
The NY MELTS fans would be crying about that.
I'm glad that the NY MELTS fans watched the entire game today. MESS fans usually don't. The MESS fans didn't show up for the pre season games and they left early in the last game of last season.
I guess when you win only one World Series in 40 seasons, people don't expect much. Even if they are the highest paid team in the NL!!!

Hey dumb sh_it!
This is a Mets forum, not a Yankees. So who's the one who's paranoid, and so concerned about another team? You just 'HAD' to get on a Mets blog and see what we're talking about, LOL

Although this should have been a blowout win by the Mets being they stranded a dozen runners on the pond, nonetheless a win is a win. these are the kind of wins you need if you're going to make a run for a playoff berth. In 2008, this would have never happened with our old pen of Schoeneweis & Heilman. with this triad of Green, Putz & K-Rod, count on many more of these kind of wins. Let's also not forget Daniel Murphy's homer & excellent defensive catch, Church's bat & glove & of course 5 2/3 innings by Senor Santana, even though he struggled with his control in the beginning & fighting adverse weather conditions. Let's hope that the rest of the rotation can carry the load as well. Big Pelf against a tough customer in Edison Volquez on Wednesday night. Potential of another good pitcher's duel. Nice win to start 2009 for the Metsies.
