Tatis had a couple of good games last season, but most of the time he was mediocre. Murphy was consistently good, and deserves to be a regular.

I have always hated the platoon system!!! They hit all kinds of pitching to get this far and should continue to be every day players!
This kid has all of the offensive tools and will learn to play a better defense. He should be a good one for years to come! Good move!!!

Murphy in LF and the RF platoon will prevent the thrid Sept collapse in a row - the Mets will be out of it in July!

Love to see Murphy get 500 AB's. Too bad he's ineligible for ROY. This is a good move, strengthens the bench and gives Delgado, Wright, Church, etc. rest with a talented and motivated Tatis to spell them.

Murphy's gonna have to develop more home run power if this is going to work. On-base average alone is not going to cut it in left field, since other teams will have power hitting left fielders, like, for instance, Manny Ramirez. Probably the best solution would be to keep Murphy, Tatis and Church all in rotation, since Tatis and Church both got injured last year.( Actually, the best solution would be Manny, but I guess that's not happening. The Mets will look stupid if he signs with the Braves.)

The Mets were 41-25 when Tatis started last year. That's more than a couple of games. His late season injury probably was a big reason for the collapse, or at least, one of the big reasons.

I don't like statements about a guy who has only played 40 big league games. Until he goes through the league a few times, and pitchers learn what he can hit and can't hit, 40 games doesn't mean a lot.

I totally agree with making Murph the everyday left fielder. He can hit anything thrown up there. He is too young to be pigeonholed as a platoon player. Tatis can be a right handed bat off the bench and start occasionally.

Thanks for saving me the post. Hard to imagine anyone watching the Mets last year and not knowing that Tatis made a difference. A bunch of big hits is what I recall (relative to # of at-bats and expectations).
I have posted in the past that I thought it best to give Murphy an opportunity to play as often as possible in LF and have Tatis get his at-bats against LH pitching at both LF and RF positions. I am not convinced that Murphy will hit L-handers any better than Church but the team should stay open to going with Tatis in one spot together with whichever one of the other guys is going best at the time vs. L-handers.
The reason for my confidence in Murphy is not so much based on his numbers as I agree with those posting that it is not a significant sample to choose from. But rather from his intensity and approach at the plate.
