What the umps saw was the direction of the ball change on its way down, clearly hitting the sign to do that... Home run!

It was a tough call. The yellow sign made it more difficult to determine. I was hoping that it would be ruled a home run, but I wouldn't have been too upset if the original call was upheld. Disappointed, yes - but not upset.

You could also tell by the way the ball bounced omn the filed. it bounced straight up, indicating it fell straight down.

The ball clearly changed direction indicating it hit something, thus a HR and thats why the umps ruled the way they did... at Wiffle ball park a.k.a. Yankee stadium the ball would have been in the upper deck.
