Please tell me why Murphy and Tatis get chance after chance every single game, as does Church and when Manuel finally puts Reed in after not playing 6 straight games, goes 4-0, he's done? Manuel puts in Martinez who hasn't done a damn thing to prove himself? I say Manuel goes and takes the hitting coach with him......

What hitting coach?, Tatis is a mess God knows how many double plays he has
hit into via third base. Doesn't he look at tapes of last year. Now its pull, pull, pull. Bat hardly level,.Howard hasn't helped Murphy or Martinez, the kid has a good swing and bat speed needs refinment. Some one tell me where Wrights home run power has gone Listening Howard???

Murphy is out there because he's been
playing good defense and has started to hit.Tatis is only being used because Sheffield can't play every
day due to a balky knee.Reed will be playing more now because he's going to share centerfield with Martinez while Beltran is out. They want to see what Martinez and Murphy can do,so Manuel will give them every chance.I say good, because they are both supposed to be a big part of this team's future. But Jerry should definitely move Tatis to seventh in the lineup, and put Wright or Church at cleanup.

So now, because Murphy has gone 10 for his last 30, he's the next Dave Magadan? Give me a break. I guess it's better than the Wade Boggs comparisons we were hearing in the spring, or the John Olerud comparisons over at the increasingly nauseating Metsblog. But even Magadan is on a higher level than Murph. Magadan was a highly touted 2nd round draft pick in 1983 who tore it up in the minors and went on to hit .288 with a .390 OBP and 172 more walks than Ks. Murphy, in comparison, was a 13th round pick who did well but not awesome in the minors, got fast tracked to the majors due to injuries, and had a good 131 ABs at the tail end of last year. That's it, 131 ABs; yet, that's what everyone keeps pointing to, that minute sample size, when projecting Murphy to be this future .330 hitter. Why can't Dan Murphy just be Dan Murphy? You know, a .275, 10-15 HR platoon player? Sort of like a Todd Walker (look him up on baseball-reference if you need a comparison). But seriously, enough with these comparisons. I think the kid's got enough pressure on his plate than to live up to the expectations of being the future batting champion.

My sentiments to the T. They did a Steve Jobs gig on Murphy - tons of hype.

So...it seems like 90% of the guys have trouble hitting....so where is the Met's hitting coach. No one answered my question about why Manuel chooses to play Tatis over Reed? Plus he has to play Martinez in CF once he brings him up....so how is any of this fair to Reed?

Jerry sucks ,again today with bases loaded and Church up agains a left handed pitcher in Jerry still rufuses to squeeze in a run . Church was 3 balls no strikes and then went 3 and 2 and struck out where the hell is this managers brains .I know we won by 1 run but if he squeezed in another run the pressure would have been off K-Rod in the 9th. This guy stinks as a manager ,Omar better look for a new manager as well as a couple of hitters . The team is punchless unless we get a couple of guys who can hit we'll never make a play off in October .Wake up Omar or take a hike !

You make a good point but why not play the guys we have, consistently so they can get better at bat? These guys worked their butts off to get to the majors and it's the lousy couch's choices that hold these guys back.....you can't constantly bring in guys who you think are big bats....work hard with the guys who deserve it that are right here, right now!!!
