Lets not forget to add the base running blunders, lack of clutch hitting, calling on the bullpen catcher to pinch hit, Ollie the nut case, walking the opposing pitcher with bases loaded and Omar. Woody Allen couldn't write a funnier script.

Jerry Manuel seems to be back talking like a loser again.

Los Mets......It's even worse than I thought.

If Satana continues to show signs that he is breaking down, today will just be one more disaster.

This team is so bad, they may be years away from just being respectable.

This is the team that Minaya and Co. have put together. It's all over, folks!

They are not fit for national TV.
Keep the Mets on radio and off TV.
I'm sure Casey would have had a solution....but he usually fell asleep in the dugout by the 6th inning.

Its pretty obvious that this team is going nowhere. So why play Sheffield, Tatia, Castillo, etc. just for the sake of respectability? Does it really make a difference if the Mets finish even behind Washington. Bring up the best young pitchers, the next young shortstop, the young catcher, and let them play. They might be less "respectable" but certainly more exciting than the team that takes the field now.
Another question: Why are the "best" starting pitcher and the "best" closer being paid so much just to keep this team "respectable"?

sorry to all the idiots who paid those ridiculous prices for tickets but if you all claim to be the smart baseball people you say you all know deep down this team needs to sell some pieces and bring back a bushel of prospects to rebuild this horrible farm system and give this team some depth and a chance to rebound in 2010 -- there are assets in the bullpen that can bring back players like feliciano and green and redding, as well as sheffield and cora and church and reed and maybe even ollie if he shows he can pitch like a major leaguer again -- in the offseason i would listen to offers for any player on this team cept santana and wright, and bring in as much young talent as possible -- sometimes it's better to admit defeat and do what is necessary to fight another day -- too bad pigs will fly outta my a-- before this happens before of the moronic "we dont rebuild in new york" attitude -- sad so sad --

I was at the game Saturday and am embarrassed to say this is my team. The fans were laughing at the mets and the stadium was very quietmost of the time because the Mets were noncompetitive. These are still pros and play worse than a little leage team. This is a gutless group without any pride. The manager has to go. He has lost them. Minaya won't go since he has three years remaining on his deal and the Wilpons are too cheap to pay a guy that they fired. We have a mess here folks.

Hispanic players win well, play arrogantly and stupidly, and are uncoachable. Witness Castillo today catching apopup just like the one he dropped recently STILL WITH ONLY ONE HAND.

Because he is a loser! I guess it wasn't Willie's fault after all. This mess rests on Minaya's shoulders but he'll never accept the blame. Injuries happen and are a part of the game but Omar has not built any depth into the team. His plan is always to bring in burnt out old has beens!
They should rid themselves of Omar, Tony B Manuel and the entire coaching staff for starters.
With 30 teams in MLB, they are tied for the 21st best record. With the 2nd highest payroll, they have but 8 teams that have worse records! That's pathetic!

Adding Seaver and Gooden isn't that far fetched. They're proven winners and not much older then some of Omar's other signings like Alou, Franco, Sheffield, El Duque, Livian and the 40 something yr old ROOKIE out of Japan.

winning is a attitude. if you look at the best teams they believe they are good they do not wonder. The Mets have doubted themselves since losing to ST LOUIS in the playoffs. i believe that we will be back but i believe a GOODEN and Seaver on the mound were the king of their domain. they were crafty to win when they were not feeling great.

Church thinks mets should look in mirror? he should look where hes running and touch the bases! bring back seaver gooden? how about ol 21 Cleon Jones. Cleon was ivans favorite player. Ivan wanted to do everythinglike Cleon, run same batting stance wore 21...everything like Cleon except of course getcaught in a van with an under age girl! Mets need to fire Jerry! maybe hire Cleon to manage... he never missed third and obviously doesnt mind playing younger players.

I agree with Ron from Rockaway. I am starting to believe that until all the players and staff from 2006 and 2007 are gone, the Mets won't be in contention for anything. They say "Ya Gotta Believe" - well it would be nice if the team believed that. I don't think are are any true believers on the field right now.
