The Daniel Murphy era begins.

This guy is just a classic, pure hitter. A year or two from now, he'll be a .330 hitter and vying for batting titles.

Way to go Murph!

Me too. Very few players his age have the kind of patience at the plate he does...and he's a worker. We saw him in spring training while in Florida, and he spends hours in batting practice.

We saw him batting, then the team got called for fielding drills. He went. When they were done, and all the Mets hit the clubhouse, he went right back to the cage to take more swings. They came back an hour later to run, and he ran..and then back to the cage.

The guy is a batting fanatic.

I said this last year, I just like the fact that he works the pitchers. I mean all his at bats were like 7+ pithes he saw. It is about time we had someone to do this. Too many other teams do his against our pitchers

Daniel Murphy is the consumate hitter. He viewed 29 pitches during his five at bats. An average of six pitches per at bat. The Mets saw 181 pitches from Reds pitchers. A ten pitch at bat in the fifth inning resuted in a home-run.
