THINGS WE LIKE SANTANA EVERY FIFTH DAY. No offense to Tim Lincecum, but Santana was the best all-around pitcher last season and deserved the Cy Young Award.

I actually like the Mets playing tough AL east teams. I suggest asking these guys if having a challenge during the season makes them sharper. They've done well against goog competition like the Phillies but lousy against teams like the Nats.

Can't really be crying about Murphy in left! He's our nascent Youkilis! Castillo IS worth less as an eighth hitter, but as a singles only type of hitter, I'd rather look to get more at bats for a more multifaceted player such as Murphy.
On the whole this is a much better team on paper than last year's lot. I'm pretty encouraged

Can't wait for the season to start! If Castillo can prove himself, I'm sure his 8th spot is not set in concrete. I'll take Daniel Murphy in left anyday as long as his bat is as productive as I KNOW it will be. He'll bat over 300 this year.

Things I don't like:
Talking about the f'gin collapse(s).

ENOUGH!

Not referring to this article about the collapse(s), but almost every other one I read...

I think your wrong about the Mets having to play the AL East. This is the year the Mets are NOT at a disadvantage because the Phillies are also playing those teams. Also Murphy will be ok in LF.Last year they just threw him out there this year he has been working there all winter.

Yeah, I thought Murphy actually did a respectable job in LF last year, and with the help of Beltran and Razor Shines, he should improve, although Citi does look to have a large OF. There were even a few plays last season that Murphy exceeded expectations, such as the jumping catch against the wall, resulting in a double play, in Houston during his first few games in the majors; then that semi leaping catch against the wall at Shea that looked very close to being a HR robbing catch; and there's that game saving hustle play in Florida following Beltran's awesome game changing 2 out GS in the top of the 9th, where Cantu rocked a double down the LF line with a man on first and second and 2 outs, but since Murphy not only got to the ball so quickly, but he alertly threw it back into third base all in one quick motion, holding the trailing runner on third, where he would wind up being left, in what ended up being a one run victory for the Mets. Murphy is certainly learning out there, and he actually has a pretty strong and relatively accurate arm, being a former third baseman and all. I think he'll be better than expected, even if that means merely average.
