That was a refreshingly good natured article rarely seen during these cynical sometimes paranoid times! Mike like many fine people who walk this Earth has been victim of the stereotypical "to good to be true" individual, with doubt spun and innuendos thrown by the many meansprited agenda motivated curmodgins throught the media world. Kudos to Mr Hermann simply for being a gentleman and giving credit where credit is due. It is what it is folks and I have no doubt Mike Piazza is who he appears to be!

Bang!

Herrmann hits another one out of the park! Outstanding article and hopefully Piazza ends up back with the Mets one day.

Can't wait to see Piazza wear his Mets hat into the Hall of Fame!

Cut the BS, Mike Piazza was as juiced as the rest of them. You people (and Mark Hermann) sound so naive.

No, just someone who doesn't believe in hero worship.

Good for Mike Piazza. I am not a huge Mets fan but I always admired how he went from being drafted in something like the 42nd round to being an all star catcher. I have no idea if he ever did steroids or not, but steroids alone could never explain this great an accomplishment.

No professional athlete should be a hero or an idol or a role model. That should be left up to mothers, fathers, grandmparents, uncles, priests, clery, rabbi's, teachers, etc..........and its your job as a parent to be able to teach your children the difference.

NOW - a guy like Piazza is very likable and has led his life in a way that a child could look up to.

There is a difference

I think you are abit confused. There is no hero worship involved here. All I am pointing out is that Mike Piazza has comported himself the way a human being in the public eye should and it was refreshing to read something accurate rather than cynical for a change. You have a right to hold disdain for hero worship. Where you lose perspective is taking that disdain out of context to the level of accusing and defaming!
