This has been a great start to the season. These guys are coming out and hitting the ball very well. Volquez needs to figure himself out though. Sooner or later they will need to win a game on pitching when the bats don't come through and Volquez isn't capable of being the pitcher to pull it off. It's pretty sad when he is considered the #1 on the team.

Outstanding start to the season for the Reds. Their offense has been outstanding, as has their defense and base running. Their starting pitching is a little concerning. If Cueto and Bailey come back from the DL and are able to perform at a decent level, the Reds will be contenders. However, if Cueto and Bailey don't do well after they get off the DL, and if Volquez continues to struggle (like he did last night and on Opening Day) then their starting pitching woes might turn them from contenders to pretenders.
Nevertheless, you can't get any better than being undefeated thus far. Go Reds.

He's not considered the #1 pitcher. When asked, Dusty Baker stated that he set up his pitching rotation for the sole purpose of alternating hard and soft throwers, to keep opponent's batter's off keel from game to game. Their rotation is not a ranking of pitchers.
