It's too bad for Bonser with the shoulder problem. Bad luck is attracted to this guy. Now it will be easier for the Twins to release him. He might have been a good option for the set-up role and not long relief as the article claims. It also means more likelihood of the Twins relying on Guerrier and Ayala. After Guerrier's performance last year and seeing Guardado in action, it's hard to work up much enthusiasm on the prospect of Ayala or Guerrier having steller seasons for the Twins. Let's hope that Ayala is not a right-handed Guardado. And, they will both obviously be on the opening day roster. It will be most interesting to see how Mijares, Crain, Breslow and Humber pitch this spring. Those four may wind up carrying the bullpen. For his own sake, Bonser should realize that he needs to become a relief pitcher but in a specified role--not long relief. If he is picked up by another team and made into a starter again, his career will be that much shorter.

Injuries are part of sports, and especially for pitchers. Still, it would have been best to allow competition to decide who makes the team in Spring training. I wonder if Bonsor would be claimed off waivers with this injury? He certainly wouldn't give other teams a lot hope would he? For me the wild card in all of this is Humber. How good is he and how ready for the show is his stuff? Someone needs to provide long relief for the bull-pen. Just glad that baseball is starting to be played!

It's about time. I think that the Twins have given Bonsor more than enough time to prove himself to the organization. He has been on a dramatic downward spiral since 2007, and it is only a matter of time before he's either shipped off to the minors (most likely) or picked up by another team (not so likely).

I'm excited to see what will be done this year. Hopefully Anderson can whip some of these younger guys into shape. High hopes!

Go Twins.
