And the Sox let another one get away...........tell me....why are they sitting on their butts not doing anything this off season. They got some Japanese guy but we need more bats. If they want to contend w/ the Yanks and the Rays....they need to start spending some cash

Roush Fenway Racing? The Red Sox owners have other hobbies to invest in. It is not that they can't, it is that they won't compete with the Yankees in signing free agents.

Lets see, 89 wins last year with an OK team and without Wang for a good part of the season...IF NYY's can't win over 100 games in 2009...
THEY SUCK!!

(I hope My Blue Jays just don't end up in last place in the AL East in 2009)

If you want to have a good team then you have to compete with the other teams....Roush Fenway...who cares they have their teams......The Cat in the Hat is annoying anyway. The Sox need a bat to replace Manny and who knows if Papi will be any good this year. He struggled a lot last year

The Yankees will indeed ruin baseball. It doesn't take a scholar to figure out that if you out-spend everybody else by huge margins and buy all the best players, you will win. MLB has to put in a salary cap.
Fans will disappear.

The article cites John Henry talking about being careful in deploying their resources to compete with the Yankees. Perhaps the Roush deal was to allow them the chance to study the Edwards backflip closeup. Right now the 2009 season looks to be a Red Sox backflip.

Fans are disappearing. People can't afford the season tickets or even single game tickets. The Yankees are way in over their head. I can't stand the Steinbreners...greedy b@st@rds

I have sat in the same seats for 30 years and I will not go back to a Yankee game again. Screw George and screw the Yanks and MLB. They treat their fans like poo and their players like kings!

I pray they don't make the playoffs with that roster, what a fun disaster that would be to watch.

this isnt actually true at all. The best "TEAM" wins. Not the team with "the best players". And CC sabbathia, and aj burnett arent exactly future hall of famers. sabbathia will opt out of his deal after 3 years and burnett has been healthy for about a season and a half out of his entire career.
the teixeira signing was pulled off fantastically by cashman. completely outplayed everyone else. teixeira is now the biggest ever Boras mercenary. Boras is the complete scum of the earth. But i'd hire him as my agent.
the yankees may have the best line up in baseball, but the sox still have , by far, the best pitching staff in baseball. i'll take pitching over hitting any day.

seriously - It is not about George, if you have the talent, all the money you could possibley want in a lifetime and both teams are world series contenders where would you go ... to a brand new state of the art locker room or a 1912 dump?

Good buy magic mustache hello Marky T. Big upgrade at first base. Yanks needed a new first baseman more than the Sox do. For all you fans in Boston all I got to say is: How do you like them apples, ha?
