It's a good thing those 3 games in the loss column can't be made up or the Sox would only have a 1.5 game lead now.

Was there any question Vazquez would get lit up tonight? If the Sox do back into the playoffs, they better go to a three man rotation because this guy is useless under any spotlight. I guess with the way they're playing, they wouldn't ever have to announce it's a three man rotation if they schedule him 4th.

Na na na na, hey hey, good bye White Sox! You guys look like a bunch of tired old men, and are outplayed and out hustled by every team that kicks your sorry butts. The Twins may lose too (and then again, come back to win like tonight), but the Twins fight, never quit, and have a bunch of hungry kids and relief pitchers who play every night and are not treated like princesses.

If you survive Kansas City (always a tough place for the White Sox), then certain death of the season awaits in Minneapolis. Remember the deafening crowd noise in the thunder dome? It will be like nothing you have ever heard as the young guns out you out of your sorry misery.

Enjoy the off season, White Sox. You will have plenty of time to rest your old bones and watch the Twins and Cubs in the World Series.... he gone!

After watching the Sox dump 3 out of 4 to the Yankees I almost hope they don't make the playoffs. They probably won't win a game even if they do. This team is so hard to watch that I can't almost wait till they break it up and start over next year!

These comments are so funny, one game or one series does not make a season.

These comments can only come from people who know nothing about baseball. i.e. Cub fans.

We still have a 1.5 game lead and the "Winnin' Twins" have to keep winning, not the easiest thing to do recently for them.

Again, everything goes in streaks, and the way I see it playing out, is, that the Sox are due to get hot and Kansas City is due to cool off; so I couldn't think of a better place to go after this Yankee series, than KC.

But I never lose sight of the fact that KC is still a major league team, and I don't expect a sweep either way, so it looks like it will go right to the wire, and as far as the Twins sweeping us in the last series, well, don't make me laugh, I don't care where the game is played, they are not going to beat our top pitchers three in a row.

1)Nice to see Ozzie clean out the bench when the pitchers tanked the game

2) Isn't Bourgeois a 1st basemen by trade???

3) I'm lookin forward to tomorrows game in KC as the Sox tend to bounch back from bad series with a vengence!

4) Anyone wanna bet that the Rays crush the Twinkees tomorrow....I have a funny feelin they do worse than the Sox did tonight!

5) The Yankees are in a world of hurtin if Congress gets ahold of their books on the new stadium....can you say IRS Tax Lien?!!

6) You know Coop is gettin a earfull from Ozzie concernin the bullpen!...I expect him to have Horicio Rameriez doin wind sprints the whole afternoon!

7) TCQ took swings in the cage tonight and came away ready to pinch hit according to my spys....and he looked gooood!

8) Can WGN get some new ads for Scrubs & 7th Heaven...I mean they been runnin these since April!!!

9) I hear that Buerhle already has told Ozzie he's goin 9 no matter what he says!...Ozzie may need the KCPD to get him off the mound tomorrow!!

I've been writing all along this 08 edition won't go far even if they escape central division & go on to playoffs. They lack clutch, fundamentals & no consistent pitching.Vasquez is type of pitcher you don't know which Javy will show up. The bad Javy certainly showed up versus Yanks. Horacio has done nothing positive since coming over from KC ,Id punch his ticket out of chi now! Send his lousy pitching ..s back to Carson Ca..It seems sox have had no luck with ex Royals Dotel,H.Ramirez,Sisco & MacDougal all have pretty much suck. 08 edition has improved over 07,but a better effort they could be close to 05 club. But the 08 edition seems happy just to finish season. Sox of 09 need to retool & get rid of the Swisher types on club who seldom show up.

A few times this season the White Sox hitters went into a team-wide slump. None of them would hit. Somehow the starting pitchers and bullpen kept the team in 1st place.

Then for a few excellent winning streaks here & there hitting and pitching were pretty much stellar and all synched up. When the White Sox fell, they fell hard. Hot then cold. Cold then hot. Difficult to figure out why so streaky.

Then the bullpen started to fall apart right after Linebrink got hurt.

The worst news is that the White Sox are a HORRIFYING road team.

And now this. Difficult to believe the White Sox are in first place with: "The Sox have scored three runs in their last 19 innings and are 1-for-18 with runners in scoring position in their last two games." That's god dam shameful. Millionaire$, all fo them. Falling flat on their faces.

Kenny Williams and his stubborness to make this team better. Bringing in Ken Griffey, Jr. just to light a fire under old Paulie's tired a*s*s.

Kenny Williams refusal to get centerfield squared up with a permanent player after 3 seasons; Kenny Williams' refusal to get youth, speed and legs on this team. How many bases did the White Sox steal this year? Why do the White Sox look so lethargic? Because they are. They have no catalyst on this team.

Everybody says how consistent Carlos Quentin was this year before he was injured. I didn't think he was that consistent, he struck out a lot. He's a good kid, I'm not bashing him at all and hope he's on the White Sox for a long time, he's their diamond in the rough; so is Alexi Ramirez.

Bringing up a loser like MacDougal to keep those losses a-comin'!!!

I don't want a team that is in this bad a shape to be in the playoffs, they'll be eaten alive and the results will be disgusting.

By the end of this 2008 season the White Sox won't be in 1st place anymore.

During the season when the slumps happened they had time to get out of the slumps but not this time. Time has run out.

If you guys think NY was bad, think of what Minnesota is gonna do. They smell blood. Boy are they gonna have fun celebrating in 1st place.

Stick a fork in the Sox they're done. They're toast. They're history. It's been fun. They ran out of steam. They ran out of gas. Got nothing left in the tank. There's always next year. Hasta la vista.

They are just a mediocre team. Guaranteed to see more of the mediocrity next year as the seats get emptier.

Here is what I see is wrong with the SOX,
Starting Pitching: Only Floyd and Danks Pitch to win. Buehrle thinks he has a 50/50 chance of winning each start. Vasquez does not go after hitters.
Bull Pen: Macdougal and Thorton have been busts and Linebrink excluding injury has not been consistant. Jenks for the most part has been the best.
Free Agents: Octavio Dotel stinks and does not know how to pitch off season bust.
Trades: I say bring Garland back, Cabrera is a waste and the deal should never have been made. I still can't figure out what Ken Griffey Jr is doing here ?
In short quit swinging for the fences every at bat, base hits win games the HRs will come. They need the eye of the tiger and its not there.Ozzie is 50% of the problem Don Cooper and Greg Walker are the other 50%.
If whats happening on the north side this year is not a incentive for this team to win I don't know what is.

I don't know if the tears I shed last night were because of how bad the Sox played or the relentless tales of Kaline and Colavito being told by Hawk.

Typical Vazquez performance....pitches well one game, horrible the next....the prototypical .500 pitcher....hope he gone for next season.....this team is listless....Oswaldo is not pushing the right buttons like in 2005. That three game series in Minn. is going to be a disaster.

I can't figure out how you have a winning formula in 2005 (fundamentals, speed, and clutch hitting) and you don't duplicate it again. The only way the Sox are going to compete with Minnesota this year and in the future is by doing what they did in '05. This team is old and slow and relies too much on the home run. That said I rather be where we are today than where we were last year at this time. I agree with the other comments that it looks as if they have run out of steam, but let's now lose hope.

OC is right, something called guts is missing from this team for a couple of years. All of these big hitters have nothing left in the gas tank. This is like a bad accident that you do not want to watch, but you can not stop yourself.

I don't know why this is a surprise? The White Sox have sucked against winning teams all year. They have a winning % under .400 against winning teams.

Javier Vazquez will never be a BIG GAME pitcher , All the proof was right there last night ! He totally choked ! The rest of the team followed his lead, and just tanked the game last night. No fire in this team, have not seen any fire for weeks now. Love the Sox always will, but looks like they are just playing out the string, almost as if they don't care about the playoffs ? Need to sweep KC, tall order for this team right now, in 05 the Sox gave away the huge lead they had in the divison and needed to taske care of business in Cleveland, I think they swept them, can Ozzie find that magis with this team ? I hope so !
