Use the time, effort, and money to sign:(1) a starting pitcher,(2) a center fielder, and/or (3) a second baseman.

Pick your spot with which position you are willing to roll the dice on a young player. I think the starting pitcher is most important.

Trade for Xavier Nady!

Younger, cheaper, higher ceiling.

why would they do that when they have all young players at each of those positions looking to prove themselves and fighting for the starting role.

Cuz the guys fighting for these positions suck! They have had chances to show that they belong in MLB, and have failed to do so! Maybe Getz will be an exception...maybe.

oh, i didnt know that dayan viciedo has played in the big leagues before. last i knew he played in cuba last year. josh fields has only gotten one chance because of crede being here. brian anderson and jerry owens didnt get to start because the sox thought nick swisher was going to be their answer in center field. and the four young players fighting for the last two spots in the rotation have all played in triple A most of their careers.

I forgot about Viciedo, but he's young. I don't expect much from him this year.

Lillibridge, Betamit, and Nix have done nothing up to now in their respective major league "careers".

BA is not a major league hitter, the jury's still out on Owens and Fields.
