Joe: Stability in set lineup
#1 Feb 23, 2009
They should just keep Swisher and Nady for the season. Swisher will come in handy in that he can spot all outfielders. If Cabrera and Gardner are dismal, then Swisher is your center fielder, granted weak on range. Damon and Matsui staying healthy all year for LF is a stretch, so Swisher could find playing time there too. I think Swisher is the type of guy the Yankees need for the long haul.

I think history shows its better to use a bunch of guys than one set lineup. Look at the 1986 Mets, who had only one guy with 500 AB, or the 1998 Yankees, who managed to get a whole bunch of players into the mix. I still think either the Mets or Yankees should get Manny this year.

Damon will get 90% or more starts in left this yr. Swisher is expensive as bench guy but cant deal him anywhere w/money he's owed. Matsui exclusive DH.
just be sure to save enuf money to throw at Roy Halliday when the time comes!

I agree...Swisher is valuable coming in off the bench...
