Once again due to a late starting time I missed a classic ending to a playoff game. What do we on the east coast need to do to get a fair shake. These are two east coast teams . Why not a 7:30 start? Can't you sports writers from our local papers speak up for us. We have jobs to go to in the morning alot of us cannot stay up until after midnight.

Every so often you hear the term 'baseball man' used to give praise to someone who knows a great deal about the game. It looks like the baseball men in todays game are located in the Tampa Bay organization. They have built a solid team and have signed a few of their 'stars' to long contract to keep them away from the free agent market for 5-6 years and dropping players with 'troubled' past i.e. Dukes. A 45 million dollar salaried team has far surpassed those who spend double that or more. Hope the underdog Rays take it all. They have already shown other teams how its done.

Gee...Mets regret trading Kazmir...BREAKINGS NEWS...I guess you think you readers have had their head in the sand the past few years. What was the point of the article? Not one new piece of information, not one new opinion. This has been written only...um...a million or so times over the last few years. How about some quality journalism and actaully write about something we don't already know.

Of course I agree it was a stupid trade. We all know that and have known it for years.

However, people should stop acting as if we traded away Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson or some other great pitcher in his prime.

The main reason the Mets dealt him is because they felt he was an injury risk. Well guess what? He's been on the DL six times already for shoulder and elbow injuries on his pitching arm and he's not even 25 years old yet.

He still has control problems which he hasn't solved in 5 seasons and likely won't ever go away, and his best season was probably when he was 13-9 two years ago. Even on the WS contending Rays of this season, he was only 12-8.

Yeah ok, we gave up a solid #3 starter with #2 potential if he stays healthy (that's a big if) and we got nothing for it. I get that, it's true.

But we didn't commit the Nolan Ryan trade all over again either.

How can we get over the Kazmir trade, I'm still not over the Nolan Ryan trade. These are 2 for the ages.

I'm too young to remember the Nolan Ryan trade, but the 2 REALLY horrible trades that I remember are the Seaver trade and the Juan Samuel for Lenny Dykstra AND Roger McDowell trade. In the Seaver trade I did like Steve Henderson, but that's essentially the only value we got for a first ballot HOF pitcher! I think we got P Zachery and Doug Fynn as well. The kazmir trade IS bad, but those 2 are worse, IMO...

Let's not forget, the Mets also got minor league pitcher Bartolome Fortunato in that deal. Good job Jim Duquette. Next time, don't listen to Jeff Wilpon, the owner's son, when evalating talent.

In all, the deal ranks with a couple of the worst trades in sports history. Nolan Ryan for Jim Fregosi. And lets not forget Mike Milbury of the Islanders trading Roberto Luongo, currently one of the best goaltenders, if not the best, in hockey and Oli Jokinen, a perennial 30 goal scorer, for Oleg "No Heart" Kvasha and his 12 goals per year, and Mark Parrish who had a couple of decent years but is long since gone.

The Mets also got Dan Norman, a minor league outfielder, in the Seaver trade. Thank M. Donald Grant. He had a big market to work with, but a small market mentality. He could have built a program like the Yankees, but ended up acting like he was working for the Royals. That trade was symbolic of M. Donald Grant's total failure as an executive which became his legacy and caused him to go down in infamy in baseball history.

I agree. It's bull. I haven't watched past the 5th inning of any playoff game that started at 8:30. I want Phils-Rays in the WS because I like the way those teams play and I'm sick of that "Red Sox Nation" garbage. But I'm also hoping the networks have the worst tv ratings in history.

Why do I hear every big market team's name mentioned as trying to fix themselves in some way since the baseball season ended except for the Mets? Oh, I forgot, we got Jerry Manuel back. I guess we're waiting a few months for a new coaching staff before pursuing any trades or discussing potential free agent pickups. They make it so hard to root for this team even after more than 30 years.

Gee really?? The Mets regret trading Kasmir?? I've never heard that before. It's not like it's been talked about for the last 4-5 years...Stating to obvious must be the secret to becoming a sportswriter.

The headline is: Mets deeply regret letting Kazmir go to Rays.

It would be more meaningful only if the Mets didn't deeply regret letting Kazmir go to Rays.

It's painful and it's obvious.
