Check out the photo of mauer going into the dugout.

On top of his helmet two guys are holding each others
hands. Seems like they are going to celebrate by
giving each other a big kiss.

Mauer, Young, and Kubel, with some heroics from Thome, have been the offensive story for the Twins since the all-star break. Young seems to be coming out of a brief slump, and Thome is starting to pick things up. The White Sox have very good pitching, and the Twins hitters have thumped Chicago's best, except the kid Sales.

The Twins pitching, on the other hand, is cause for concern. If we face facts, we must admit that Chicago's offensive line-up is not impressive. Chicago's hitters do seem to come through in the clutch, but they're just not that good. Yet our pitchers struggle against them. Someone said in an earlier post, and most of us concur, that the Twins needed to pick up a top starter rather than Capps. One or two of us have tried to defend Capps, but he's making it difficult. Certainly, he doesn't inspire confidence when he trots out in the 9th with the game on the line.

Perhaps the Twins gave up too much (Ramos) for Capps and might have been able to go with a closer by committee. Ramos should have been sacrificed for that top closer, and the Twins can't say they didn't have the money to go get someone. Right now, Crain and Guerrier are the two best relievers. Crain has looked very good as he is now able to get is breaking pitches over to compliment his fastball.

Great series to watch so far--let's hope that the Twins keep playing hard and totally demoralize Chicago with one more victory.

Correction: Ramos should have been sacrificed for that top starter...not a top closer.

Can't complain about the Twins second half of the season, but we can nitpick.

They may need to rest Liriano and Pavano every now and then. Those two anchored the rotation to this point, but both seem to be struggling now.

The offense has produced runs and comebacks, even without Morneau. Seems odd that their winning streak has been after Morneau's injury...no need to rush him back.

They'll need to be hitting (and pitching) on all cylinders when the playoffs start (Yankees/Rays)....or are we getting ahead of ourselves?

Capps looks to be a Rauch clone...shaky closer!

the twins are playing with a horseshoe in their jockstrap but how long can this last with the pitching? who wants to take credit for waiting 2 years for craps; whoops i mean capps. i wouldn't trade a bat boy for him!!. please spend money and get a solid starter.
