”These people know that, in Betty, they have a friend and a caretaker for life,”

Here in lies the problem. As a Eureka business owner I'm consistently asked why there are so many homeless. It's not that we have any more homeless than anyone else, its that we attract them from everywhere else. If you have a problem with rats you don't continue to feed your cat outside, you monitor how and when you feed your cat, or identify the source of the problem until the problem is under control. Instead (using the analogy) the cat continues to get fed outside and the rats continue to come, and multiply, and bring their friends (now skunks, raccoons, possums and other varments). This is the problem Eureka has with our homeless....they're flocking from everywhere because we have so many bleeding hearts.

Just a few more questions to ponder. How many of these 'homeless' are truely down on their luck, and need food and a home for a short period of time, and how many are truely leaches on society. I think anyone who does a casual drive by of anywhere Betty feeds or down 2nd street will see that a large majority of the 'homeless' are male and between 30-50. Many are still more than capable of

Lastly of course Salma Hayek and Maria Shriver and the rest of Southern California and the elite upper class think Betty is doing a great thing....they don't have 'homeless' roaming their streets. I would think the same thing if I were in their shoes.

A local business owner? One that rips off the good people of Humboldt with high prices including gas and merchandise? I just moved from the area and let me tell you everything is cheaper. Betty is wonderful. One morning, take a break from ripping people off and see what she does. The fame does not faze her. She's "Just ole Betty."
You should be ashamed of yourself. If you have any guts, identify your business so we can avoid it.

Betty Chin has worked hard to obtain the honors she has been given.
We at the NCRC applude her for bringing hope to the homeless population we both work for. The 30 to 50 age individuals that Betty serves are the ones that are the LEAST supported by everybody. No bathrooms, no education, no work training they are not given an opportunty to regain control of their lives. However, we believe that they are worthless because someone states that they are being supported with goverment funds. Maybe so if you consider 263.00 (General Relief) and 200.00 in food stamps a way for people to clime out of homelessness. In the winter it gets worse the 263.00 is reduced to about 98.00 and people are told to use shelters?
If you are a business owner, do your research and support an agency that is working with this population and are trying to redirect their lives. Better yet if you are into a return for your support look at agencies that are in your community that are addressing issues that concern you.
I am sorry I do not usually do these blogs, but I will not stand by and have someone bad mouth Betty. I might not total agree with everything Betty wants to do, but she is going in the right direction.
I am not ashamed to put my name to a blog, and one day I will work hard to make sure people that do these blogs are held accountable for their treats on other HUMAN BEINGS> I promise you that.

They're fun to hold a $100 bill up in your car while the light turns green, and you drive off. Fk the vagrants.

Another "I didn't want to do it but this may help my cause, now where's the TV camera & get out of my way" story about Betty Chin.

Betty is a well-meaning enabler that is making Eureka's problem worse, not better.

Please Jeff E, Screw Em and, especially, Disappointed--use your full names when you post the venom toward people that you do. Stand up behind your words.

If there are children they need help. How many able bodied (men?) are nothing more than BUMS. No jobs, high taxes, home prices through the roof and schools crumbling. The illegals that work are more American than these BUMS.
