Who cares? He didn't do anything different than the other top HR hitters at the time.
The steroids didn't make the ball easier to hit?
He is one of the best either way and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame period!

I have to admit: If I took steroids for the next 20 years I still couldn't hit the ball like him.

So glad he is 'fessing up'. If I know St.Louis, we will welcome here with open arms regardless. It takes a real man to say he is sorry, even if a few years later than it should have been to say so. Still love you Big Mac.

I agree - steroids or no steroids, you still have to be able to hit the ball. It was wrong to do, but it doesn't change the fact that he had talent and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame!!!

He should NEVER be permitted to work in baseball and all records should be struck. This was about winning at all cost and LaRussa was right there with him

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

And to those of you who think it is wonderful to have Mac back-guess Barry Bonds is sure to follow.

Shame on the Cardinals for tarnished a storied franchise and for setting a poor example for kids. Hypocrites.

its funny how everyone was ready to brand barry bonds as a disgraced ball player. But now since the beloved BIG MAC as come out with his dirty deeds now everything is okay. All is forgiven and lets brush this thing under the rug. I guess its not wrong doing when its the hometown favorite.

Blah blah blah,
I agree with the others/ It was not the steroids that made the bat hit the ball.
That has nothing to do with it.
Just take a chill pill.
At least he was man enough to fess up the truth. And may I add in front of thousands of people. Could you do that??????

This news just in! Earth revolves around sun, admits scientist.
Or maybe: President spends s day in White House (wait that MIGHT be news ha ha!)
Oh one more: Elton John "has always preferred men", admits singer.
I care ZERO about retired ballplayers that used steroids.
Baseball the last three years has been beautiful again--very little steroids and big whopper punishments (remember FIFTY games for J.C. Romero and Manny Ramirez?) for those who do.\
Let's worry about keeping TODAY'S game clean.

I guess if as you say McGuire has tarnished the Cardinals and baseball then whats your stance on Tiger Woods and Nike, Oldsmobile, Gatorade etc? Should he then be banned from Golf and his records wiped off the books? Talk about bad image for our kids!

How very true you are. Mark McGuire should NEVER be in the Hall Of Fame.

Like all of the cheaters from this era he should be stripped of any record and kicked out of baseball. He would make a mockery out of the Hall of Fame.

The man has arms the size of toothpicks before he went on steroids...they had everything to do with his hitting.

I mean really, so what, at least he had balls enough (LOL) to admit it. He hurt no one except himself. Steroid useage is dangerous to the body.

Are you guys kidding me? He lied to Congress, he lied to baseball and he lied to the fans and YES Tony Larussa was along for the ride the whole way. It's funny that it took this long and oh by the way maybe he realized he wasn't making it to the hall of fame??? Interesting timing after the last vote don't you think? Do you guys really think he would of came out if he still had a chance at the hall? He was a coward for what he did, a coward for his lies and any records he has should be stricken from the books. Larussa has had a past of cohorting with a lot of suspect "users" and one by one they are being busted for what they really are a sham. Typical St. Louis fan wannabe's, talk crap about anyone like Barry Bonds until it happens to one of your own and then all is forgiven. The only people wanting to forgive "little mac" are the ones who are to embarassed to admit that they were taken by a phony.

It was no surprise, he did not want to lose all the glory and gifts he recieved. I do think he should at least get probation. Everyone else has to do some type of jail time or probation. So, what if hwy 70 is named after him; just let it be?

Oh horse poopie, you call it cheating? Explain to me excactly please, how he cheated? Did he bribe the pitchers to throw him easy balls? NO? Gee, did he core out his bat's and fill the tops with lead? NO? Gee, how did he cheat? By taking steroids, yup, aha, steroid usage does not guarantee that he will be able to hit homeruns. He was a power hitter to begin with.
