Walker not using injuries as excuse

Full story: Baltimore Sun

"I have no excuses," Walker said. "It's just been a bad year for me. I'm hoping that there is nothing in [the elbow], and I'm just going to try to finish the year out and we'll go from there." Walker pitched a ...

Just shut Guthrie down and don't risk ruining him for next season. It's not worth it at this point. That guy has been the staff workhorse this year anyhow.

Yep, we road a good horse to death, 81 appearances by Walker last year. I am for keeping an open mind with him and assume if healthy he can help the team next year. Would I have signed him for three years in the first place though? No, but lets hope he can redeem himself, he seems like a decent guy.

At least Walker is honest about his performance! It's pretty painful to watch a 'lefty specialist' come in time after time and surrender so many HRs. We should have kept Bradford but obviously there wasn't much of a market for Walker.
In hindsight, I guess there were better ways to spend 42 mill than on 3 year contracts for Bradford, Walker and Baeyz back in '07. At least the O's got re-imbursed for some of Baeyz's contract via insurance and shed themselves of some of Bradford's contract. They are still on the hook for Walker in '09 at about 4 mill so I'm guessing will see him for part of the year anyway.

If Adam Loewen wants to be a good hitter for the Orioles, he'll need to do at least two things:
(1) develop as disciplined a batting eye as his buddy Nicky,
(2) learn the fine art of effective bunting.

Not using injuries as an excuse???? That's like saying, I'm not making excuses for being late, but my alarm clock didn't go off, I got stuck in a traffic jam, had a flat tire and hit every red light. Making excuses is exactly what Walker was doing. If I were him, I would be embarrassed to show my face in public or collect my paycheck. What a pathetic excuse for a major league pitcher!

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Sagittarius

A loved one gets hold of the wrong end of the stick today, causing endless hassle and fuss. They're likely to get upset in the process, so you have to calm them down, and that could lead to a squabble. You may also have to cope with discord when discussing family matters, with certain people getting bogged down in daft details that you think have nothing to do with the main issue.
