What a bum! Good job of getting rid of him. Another wasted Orioles draft pick.

Not clear on the rules... Did the O's have to release Lowenn in order for him to make a comeback as a position player? I know that they would want to spend time in the minors and that he would have to be released from his original contract for this to happen?? Or did they just boot him?

Loewen has a Major League Contract. So to be able to keep him as a hitter in the minors he has to sign a different contracts.

All these pitchers were an abomination on the mound and will be out of baseball shortly. Can hardly wait for the next round of incompetents to come up from this farm system.

I for one am so happy that the O's picked Loewen over Prince Fielder! Fielder was only hitting 400-foot home runs when he was 14 years-old. Great job by the scouting department, and great selection by the front office. The O's sure didn't need (and still don't need) a 40 homerun per year player who nobody like to pitch to.

Lowen doesn't deserve this comment. Your dad was a bum for not spending .50 cents on a condom.
The best part of you ran down your dads leg.

Wow. You guys are pretty harsh on Loewen! It's not his fault he got injured-maybe he comes back as a position player-not likely but who knows?
I'm sure we won't hear much from the others let go. Bierd didn't look too bad before he got injured but when he came back, he was pretty bad.

Damn right he didn't. Loewen was the anti-Bedard. He wanted the ball, and he busted his ass to be as effective as possible. Ineffectiveness and lack of effort are things that deserve some criticism. His body breaking down working as hard as he could for this team were not. I hope the Orioles sign him to a minor league deal so that he can show the same work ethic getting himself back to the majors as an outfielder.

This whole Loewen experiment is ridiculous.

The guy won't have a prayer of sniffing MLB as a rookie OF until he's 27 or 28 years old.

That's IF IF IF he learns how to hit. And play OF. And adjust to minor league baseball. And play for peanuts.

There are dozens of more talented and experienced minor league players available ALWAYS, but the O's are going to waste resources and money on trying to turn a pitcher into an outfielder.

Gee, I wonder why this team loses. It's so hard to understand.

Your comments are appreciated. When a player with the tools Loewen had suffers such devestating injuries, fans should think of the kid's pain and disappointment getting so close and having it taken away from him, as opposed to calling him a "bum" and dismissing him as just another reject the Orioles have drafted.

Here's hoping Adam somehow finds the resolve to dig down deep and comes back to play in the majors. Rick Ankiel did it for the Cardinals....maybe Adam Loewen can do it for the Orioles.

I wish him the best of luck, and so should everyone else.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Aries

Don't get embroiled in a bad-tempered skirmish today, for it might turn into more than that if you aren't careful. Everyone seems to be ratty and argumentative, but once you let the first spat take place it's effectively declaring open season. Even though things seem out-of-joint, keep your lines of communication open.
