Bob wrote: <quoted text>Well ron maybe you and Joe can meet down at birdland before the game next year and talk about all the improvement the club made over the winter. And you can talk about how excited you are about all our minor league prospects that Joe keeps talking about that might be ready by 2015.You guys just don't get the fact that by playing in the american league east you know have 4 teams better then you , you have to play 72 games against teams that are going to spend and do whatever it takes to win with the exception of Tampa bay who will be good for many years to come.Even if Andy does all the right things that Joe and some of his delusional bunch of friends think he can do we are still severely behind the eight ball. Like Ghost so readily keeps pointing out we have no sucess with our foreign players, no desire to sign any players from japan , so tell me just how do you bridge the gap between these teams. It all comes down to pitching and defense, as you well know, Bob. I have a feeling we both grew up around the same time, so we know how vital and dominating those two entities are when you have both functioning at a high level. What the Orioles have trotted out to the mound the past several years has been nothing short of an abomination. It's almost as if they went out on to the streets of Baltimore and signed anyone who could throw hard. Loewen was just another example of someone who had no clue how to pitch. When is this pattern ever going to end? Is it going to take Jim Palmer to just lose it one night on the air and trash the entire organizaiton? Or Buck Martinez to implode and do the same? Apparently, no one's listening or understanding the problem because it continually goes on and on. Yes, they did hire new coaches and instructors last year and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt but when these so called "jewels" at Double A come up to pitch in the majors, fans better start to see someone on the mound that knows how to PITCH, not THROW! I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, I'm just going to assume they're no different than any of the others. Again, if anyone wants to see Baltimore be competitive in the next couple of years, they're going to have to trade Roberts and probably even some prospects to get quality, dependable pitching. McPahail had the right vision when he was hired but I think he, like so many others that were brought into this organization, had no idea how extensive the damage was. So, I hope he'll deviate just a bit and get some pitching. If not, I won't watch a second of their games next year.

Being a native Canadian, I really don't blame him wanting to go home to play in Canada.
Good luck Adam.

Hey Joe and Ghost Oriole - can you both take your personal differences to another forum.
This is an Orioles Forum.
Why not agree to disagree with each other and stay focused on the Birds.

In the owrds of Bruce Springsteen, I was BORN IN THE USA - DC to be exact and a native Marylander. I'm also a grad of Towson U. I said AL is a NATIVE Canadian, not me. Besides, take a visit to our northern neigbors. You will see they're almost the same as the USA except the style of government and the use of measurements. I was in Toronto in 1994 to see the Orioles sweep the Blue Jays as a birthday gift. Man, it was fun to root for the Orioles in the Blue Jays nest.
