If 11 losing seasons in a row is not enough to make you go and pursue one of the best players in baseball i just don't know what will. Loyal Baltimore Oriole fans certainly deserve better tha what we've gotten in the last 11 years. Come on Macphail make Teixeira and offer he can't refuse.

Good story Dan. I'm starving for Orioles updates and at 4:52 am, after not being able to sleep for over an hour, this should ease my mind. That and the bowl of shredded wheat cereal I just had. Well brush my teeth and back to bed.

If you're unable to sleep because you're waiting for Andy MacPhail to do something..........

I wouldn't plan on operating any machinery for a long, long time.

Santa works more days per year than MacPhail does.

So let me get this straight. All the important current and former O's should suck up to Tex to make him feel wanted. That, along with a boatload of cash will convince him to come aboard and rescue the O's. How do you come up with this crap Dan? You've got too much time on your hands. Get a job. I must admit though that Baltimore media sucking up to players is standard procedure. Sure wish we had New York media types covering the O's.

Ripken ain't doing anything unless it benefits him! All Ripken is is a "me, me" guy... Why wasn't Ripken at the unveiling of the new uniforms? Because he wanted to be paid.... Just like when he played, it was all about him! Remember when he helped Manny Alexander out at SS? Oh thats right, he WOULDN'T help him out! Bum! Only three Mr. Baltimore's are out there, Brooks, Unitas, Ray Lewis!

I think you make a good point, Dan. But I still don't see any way in "hail" that Tex comes here. Still, it's worth the effort. Then all these cry-baby fans can't say the O's aren't trying!! If they offer him enough money, maybe (BIG "maybe") the home town issue could be the tiebreaker that brings him here. We need a big break like that to aid the rebuilding process. I hope they really go after him, but I'm not holding my breath!!

Just sign him. Go for broke. The franchise has more money than we know about. Just dump a ton at him and I will be happy.

SevernDave---

The lazy front office has set up this winter as a "Tex or bust" campaign. Gee, I wonder how that will work out?

There's no reason why the Warehouse cannot make prudent trades. The Nats pulled off a great deal for Olsen and Willingham.

How long before more people come around to my way of thinking----Angelos is slashing payroll because he has been guaranteed $130 million in revenue by MLB.

First, we need a new M-A-N-A-G-E-R who won't ruin every pitching prospect that comes his way.

WRONG!! We need E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G.

To simply focus on pitching is ignoring the bigger problems.

This team needs a good influx of position player talent as much as it needs good pitching.

Or can't you grasp the big picture?

Hey Connolly, you'll never hear Angelos say " Look in my eyes. I'm going to change this team". That's the difference between an owner and organization that wants to win and sadly ours.

Orioles are long on talk and short on results. Losing season after season and they feel no urgency. Tickets are not free.

I'm not exactly holding my breath, but AM has dealt with Bora$ before with the Wieters and Arietta signings. Bringing Tex home would be huge. Everyone knows we need pitching, but Tex would fill a gaping hole with superb talent for the next 5-8 years.

Make it happen MacPhail.

If you want Teixeira, outbid the Yankees, Red Sox and Angels. And if you're not willing to ante up 23-25 mil for 8 years, stay home. The rest of that sickening home sweet home stuff is BS, written to tug at the heart strings of the public. Just remember that firmly entrenched in front of those heart strings are the purse strings. Only when they are satisfied will the gushy peaches and cream rhetoric become relevant.

Screw the phone calls, take Tex salmon fishing at Waterfall Resort in Alaska and have a couple of hookers waiting for him when he gets back to the cabin. Between the fishing, the food and the great sex, he'll sign. Yeah, I know he's married, but, when given the chance to have a threesome in a remote part of the country, 9 out of 10 men will give in.

Naturally, the photographs the FO takes during the tryst will give Tex another compelling reason to sign with the O's unless he wants to give half of his stuff away to his wife in a divorce proceeding.

You are right! If in fact Tex is targeted by the O's as some one they" Really" want, put on thr all out "dog and pony show". Throw the bank at him and wine and ine him. Send Cal to his home for a personal visit and conversation alone.

But I am not for spending this kind of money on one player when the holes are so many. Not to mention I want to reward the loyal- B Rob and Nick and Guthrie.

Who gets the bank???? Who deserves to wined and dined???
