Ump's call leads to galling defeat for Marlins

Umpires did both the Marlins and Pirates a disservice with incorrect calls Tuesday, but the one against the Marlins proved far more damaging in the 3-2 Pirates win at PNC Park.
The Marlins' couldn't overcome crew chief and first base umpire Mike Winters' botching of a pivotal play to sweep the two-game set and extend their winning streak to four. Winters called Hanley Ramirez out on what should have been a game-tying, infield single in the seventh. Read more

you don't know how damaging the call was to the pirates...maybe they would have gone on to score 5 more runs and then the run that didn't score for the marlins would not have tied the game.
